The emphatic triumph further strengthened the Men in Blue’s position at the top of the points table. Meanwhile, Pakistan, captained by Salman Ali Agha, registered a dominant victory over the USA in Colombo to move to four points.

They had earlier survived a close contest against the Netherlands before sealing this comprehensive win.

Indian team will be entering the contest as favourites, former all-rounder Manoj Tiwary believes that things might not be as easy for the Suryakumar Yadav-led unit.

Tiwary has expressed that the Indians are among the most complete teams taking part in the twenty-team tournament. While shedding light on the recent record in India versus Pakistan matches, the ex-cricketer believes that the Indians will sail through, but it won't come easy, as the Men in Green, too, are in good form, having won both their group-stage matches thus far.

"It is going to be a high-intensity match. Whenever India plays against Pakistan, sports lovers in both countries get excited. It is high-voltage and exciting. So, I expect the same. I hope Team India performs well against Pakistan and wins. We have a very good team; there's no doubt about it," Tiwary said, as quoted by The Tribune.

"Team India has all departments covered, be it batting, bowling, fielding or even fitness. India are favourites in this edition too. While the India vs Pakistan rivalry has been very one-sided in recent times, in favour of India, this match won't be that easy for India. Let's hope the better team wins," he added.

The upcoming encounter will be the third match for both sides in their Group A campaign. The Men in Blue are currently placed right at the top of the points table with four points after two wins in as many games. They also have a fantastic net run-rate (NRR) of 3.050, while the Salman Ali Agha-led side is placed second for two wins at a rate of 0.932. The winner on Sunday night will confirm a berth for the Super Eights in the ongoing global event.
