Makers at last had to use Ronits Mihir footage lmao.

I am not aware of Gautams earlier character and behaviour in S1.

I think he is probably suffering from abandonment issues and is irked that his bada beta rights were given to Karan.

Gautam was always on-and-off as a son - he was never truly reliable. At one point, he even faked the kidnapping of his own son because he had lost money and wanted his share of the family property.

He was introduced as an arrogant and selfish person, but later his character did improve and he became more sensible.

He married Ganga mainly because if he didn’t, he wouldn’t get his share in the property. But during their honeymoon, Ganga caught him red handed with Teesha, which is why Ganga eventually divorced him.

Later, Teesha and Gomzi got married, but Teesha died soon after.

Gautam’s jealousy towards Karan also kept coming up repeatedly. In fact, he kidnapped Karan on the day of Karan and Damini’s wedding, which eventually led to Gautam marrying Damini.

His insecurity grew even more after Mandira’s death, when Tulsi brought Karan back home. Around the same time, Ansh also entered the house and Gautam often supported Ansh and went against Karan.

A good example is Shobha’s situation: when she was cheated on by her husband Abhishek, Gautam supported Abhishek instead of standing by Shobha mainly because Karan was supporting Shobha.

Over time, everyone in Shanti Niketan started relying on Karan, since he was smart and took responsibility for the family. Gautam started feeling left out as the elder son, and his jealousy showed up again and again.

By the last leap, he didn’t have much to do because Karan had become a successful businessman. In fact, without Karan, Gautam’s company would have collapsed. So eventually, Gautam just adjusted to the situation.
