The anger of the chawl women toward Upmaa for betraying them is fully justified, but burning her personal belongings was wrong. That said, the chawl women are not innocent either. They also deserve blame for blindly trusting Upmaa, who has no real understanding of legal documents. Instead of treating her like a savior, they should have gone to a lawyer, asked him to read every line and every clause, and clearly explain in Hindi what the papers actually said.

Because they didn’t, both Upmaa and the chawl women are equally responsible for Purvi Chaya chawl now facing the threat of demolition. But when it comes to Bharti’s life being ruined, that blame rests only on Upmaa’s shoulders.

Chawl people are blaming UpMaaa for their stupidity and UpMaaa in turn has put all the blame on Rajni. Both the latter and former are stupid and deserve the humiliation they are facing. No one in their right mind will trust a stranger with their most important assets. And no one signs legal documents just because their besht friend asked them to. Now both parties are in trouble and is looking for someone to blame, instead of owning up to their mistakes.

Ek baat batao, chawl walon ka concern tha ki:

1. builder unki zameen hadap lega

2. jaane kab unka pakka makaan unhe milega

3. Jab tak unka mahaan unhe mile tab tak unhe bahut door jaake rehna hoga.

Toh agar koi builder ki taraf se chawl walon se meeting karwaye aur yeh sab clear karwaye toh beech ka rasta mil sakta hn na?

Woh bhi aisa jo business janta ho like Khyati, Gautam and Rajni facilitate this "meeting", the chawl mates reject Onupama as their representative. ("Bachche" toh saare bekaar hn ekdam.)

They come to an agreement. Chawl walon ko assurance mil jayega unke future ka (waise bhi Savita aur uska husband bhi toh yahi recommendkar rahe the), Rajni bhi intact (atleast itne saal usne kaam kiya hn), Kotharis ka ghar bhi salamat, without drama. Onupama ka cheekhna chillana band hoga aur phir se maun dharan karegi.

Heartbroken by this, Onupama embarks on another agyatwaas and udaan saying "Maene Itta kiya sabke liye or sabne mujhe chod diya"

Upmaa saying “Maine rishton ka sauda karna nahin seekha” sounded like the biggest joke of all.

Let’s look at what she actually did, not what she preaches:

1. A few months after marrying Trashnuj, Upmaa visits a pregnant Crinjal. If she truly cared, she would have warned her about Doshu’s cheating nature and the disaster this marriage would bring. Instead, she creates drama, drags Choti Upmaa to the toxic Shah House, and goes into full mute mode when Vanar grabs Trashnuj by the collar and threatens to kill him. No slap. No shout. No spine. Just silence.

2. The very next day, after that threat, Vanar and Trashnuj meet with a horrific cliff accident. Trashnuj is badly injured. What does Upmaa do? Instead of putting Vanar behind bars, she shields him because he is “bachon ka acche pita.” Justice is traded for comfort. Truth is traded for her soft corner for Vanar.

3. Trashnuj is wheelchair-bound, broken in body and spirit. What does Upmaa do? She goes to her poti Pari’s homecoming ceremony. Which wife leaves her injured husband alone after such a life-and-death accident? Only someone who puts drama before duty.

4. In the Maya track, when Choti Upmaa leaves Trashnuj and he is shattered, Upmaa plays Holi in Shah House. Her husband is drowning in grief, and she is busy throwing colors and smiling for the crowd.

5. Upmaa bakes a cake for Pari, making Choti Upmaa feel ignored and jealous — and that jealousy was fully justified. Vanar kicks her out, and suddenly she remembers she is a wife. By then, her wedding with Trashnuj is already on a ventilator.

6. Upmaa, Crinjal, Choti Upmaa, and Pari go on a picnic. On the way back, a fatal car accident happens, caused by Choti Upmaa. Trashnuj rightly questions Upmaa’s priorities. Still, he is gracious enough to admit, “Maine apne 26 saal ke pyaar se shaadi karne mein thodi jaldi kar di.” Upmaa proves him right when she walks out of the wedding and confirms what he already knew: she never wanted to be Choti Upmaa’s mother, and he forced that responsibility on her.

7. When divorcing Vanar, Upmaa said, “Ek kagaz ke tukde se rishta nahi toothta.” With Trashnuj, she says, “Iss rishte ki expiry date aa gayi hai, Kapadia ji.” So one marriage is beyond paper, but the other comes with an expiry label. Convenient morals. Flexible values.

If all this is not “rishton ka sauda karna,” then nothing is. Upmaa doesn’t value relationships. She uses them when they suit her and drops them when they become heavy. Her goodness is selective. Her sacrifice is a performance. Her love always comes with terms and conditions.

PS:

Choti Upmaa was absolutely right when she said she should resign from the roles of mother, MIL, and samdhan, and keep only one full-time job that truly suits her — being mahaan.

Because clearly, she fails at relationships but never misses a chance to look great while doing it.

If this show still has even a little logic left, Rajni should win this legal battle easily. Both the chawl women and Upmaa have proved how careless and foolish they are. The chawl women trusted an uneducated Upmaa who can’t even read English legal papers. And Upmaa, in turn, blindly signed those papers just because Rajni was her childhood friend. That isn’t kindness — that’s pure stupidity.

UpMaaa's blind worshippers are abusing Rahi, saying she’s flip-flopping and is ungrateful to the great UpMaaa. But apparently, UpMaaa abandoning every udaan and running back to serve TamaShahs is perfectly fine. And I wonder why exactly did they get paltu Prem married to Rahi. Should have gotten him married to UpMaaa instead. Together they could have been the perfect unpaid naukars for clown Shahs. At least Rahi would have been spared of a man like paltu Prem, jo apne maa-baap ke bhi saga na ho saka. He's the perfect male version of UpMaaa.. who has not achieved a single thing in his life.

Even I am disgusted with Upmaa’s blind fans for abusing Choti Upmaa. Choti Upmaa’s life was cursed from the day #ApMaAn adopted her. Both Upmaa and Trashnuj have proved to be a curse in that child’s life.

Upmaa proposed to Trashnuj by dancing on a stage while still emotionally tied to her trashy Tamashah. That wedding was doomed from Day 1 because Upmaa was never over the Shah family. Any newly married couple needs time to settle down, understand each other, invest in their bond, and then plan for children only if both are ready. But Trashnuj, after making the biggest mistake of his life by marrying Upmaa, took another reckless decision by adopting Choti Upmaa.

Any normal man who sees his love marry someone else would try to move on. Trashnuj should have married only after setting up the Kapadia Empire in the US. He could easily have chosen a suitable partner who was educated and financially stable. But his unhealthy obsession with Upmaa ruined his life. The college reunion party destroyed his peace when he met her again after 26 years.

1. On the day of Choti Upmaa’s school dance competition, she trusted Upmaa that they would dance together and win. But Upmaa was busy making khichdi for Mawali Jhuli (her pyari Baa Bhagwan) and completely ruined the child’s day, making her cry. Instead of apologizing, she gave a useless lecture about “being happy in others’ victories.” Trashnuj saw her manipulation clearly that day.

2. A few episodes after Samar’s death, Crinjal and Doshu flew to the UK and later returned to Shah House. On Pari’s birthday, Upmaa baked a cake and shamelessly attended the party even though Vanar had not invited her. She was rightly thrown out of Shah House by Vanar. As usual, Upmaa put on her bechari act and ran to her puppy Trashnuj. By then, their wedding was already on ventilator support.

3. Crinjal planned a picnic and took Pari, Upmaa, and Choti Upmaa along. On the way back, a fatal car accident happened, caused by Choti Upmaa. Trashnuj was absolutely right to question Upmaa’s priorities. Still, he was gracious enough to admit, “Maine apne 26 saal ke pyaar se shaadi karne mein shayad thodi jaldbazi kar di.” Upmaa’s shameless reply was, “Iss rishte ki expiry date aa gayi hai, Kapadia ji,” and she walked out of the marriage. And look at the irony — the same trashy, sadakchaap Upmaa now lectures others about relationships.

4. After a five-year leap, Upmaa flew to the US, sponsored by her best friend and mouthpiece, DeviLka. Her curse struck again—on Trashnuj, Sruthi, and Choti Upmaa, who were living happily as a family. Upmaa’s fake MasterChef trophy win was followed by her signature disaster dish — Undhiyo Cockroach Biryani. Sruthi did what any normal person would do: complain to the hygiene department. Once again, Upmaa played the victim instead of owning her mistake.

After Upmaa dumped both Trashnuj and Choti Upmaa, Sruthi entered their lives like a ray of hope. Trashnuj could have married Sruthi after promising her marriage. Sruthi was well-educated and even sacrificed her career for Trashnuj and Choti Upmaa. But that spineless cheater Trashnuj broke his engagement with her. Upmaa once again cursed Choti Upmaa’s life and ruined Sruthi’s future. Sruthi was a thousand times better than Upmaa and could have been a wonderful mother to Choti Upmaa. If Trashnuj and Sruthi had married, Choti Upmaa could have lived a happy life with the Kotharis.

Trashnuj should have served divorce papers to Upmaa the day she chose khichdi for Mawali Jhuli over the most important day of Choti Upmaa’s childhood—her school dance competition.

PS: Phaltu Prem (except when he blamed Upmaa for Aryan’s death) was always an Upmaa bhakt. Upmaa and Phaltu Prem should just get married and become permanent doormats for the Tamashah clowns.

The only real way to kick Upmaa out of the chawl is for Rajni to play videos of her ugly past and expose every single incident listed above.

Not just Phaltu Prem, you conveniently forgot Khyati Kothari. She hated Upmaa, blaming her for Aryan's death. But the moment Upmaa won the grand finale of Taal Se Taal thanks to a charity act from Choti Upmaa, Khyati suddenly became another blind Upmaa bhakt. Thu Thu Shahi’s method is painfully obvious — make people despise Upmaa first, then twist them into loyal followers.
