Pitch Report

The pitch at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara, generally offers batting-friendly conditions. Batsmen will have the opportunity to score quickly from the start as the ball comes onto the bat with good pace and bounce. The new ball will be helpful for the bowlers in the power-play overs. Considering the last three matches played at this venue, the score is likely to be around 155.

Team news and likely XIs

Deeya Yadav, the 16-year old batter who made her WPL debut against MI, has been ruled out of the season with injury. Minnu Mani, whom she replaced in the XI in that game, is likely to slot back in.

Delhi Capitals (probable): 1 Shafali Verma, 2 Lizelle Lee (wk), 3 Jemimah Rodrigues (capt), 4 Laura Wolvaardt, 5 Marizanne Kapp, 6 Niki Prasad, 7 Deeya Yadav, 8 Sneh Rana, 9 Lucy Hamilton, 10 Shree Charani, 11 Nandani Sharma

With Vastrakar returning to fitness following hamstring injury that kept her out for two weeks, she'll be the direct swap for Sayali Satghare.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (probable): 1 Grace Harris, 2 Smriti Mandhana (capt), 3 Georgia Voll, 4 Gautami Naik, 5 Richa Ghosh (wk), 6 Radha Yadav, 7 Nadine de Klerk, 8 Pooja Vastrakar, 9 Shreyanka Patil, 10 Prema Rawat, 11 Lauren Bell

When: Saturday, January 24, 2026, 7:30 IST

Where: Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Delhi Capitals, Match 15, BCA Stadium, Kotambi

What to expect: Run scoring hasn't been easy on the slow track of Kotambi in the first three games of Vadodara leg. There has also been some assistance for the pacers early on with the new ball. Both captains believe a score above 160 would be good.

Stats that matter

  • DC won their first four WPL matches against RCB since the tournament began in 2023, but have since gone on to lose three out of the next four.
  • DC batters have the second-lowest average per wicket of 23.8 against pace this season.
  • In 27 WPL innings, Mandhana has been dismissed 12 times by offspinners and averages just 15.6 against them. In the previous match, DC made Shafali and Sneh Rana bowl to her within the first 10 overs but they couldn't have the desired effect as an in-form Mandhana took them for runs.

What they said:

"I've played a lot on such pitches growing up. So I know how it works. Having the clarity of giving myself those 10 balls and then looking at what to do, because once you're set, it's easier to score here." - Jemimah Rodrigues, DC captain, on the Vadodara pitch.

"I think 160 plus is a good total. Anything above that is a bonus but if we aim at 160 plus, I think we'll be able to defend it with the wickets which we have." -Smriti Mandhana, RCB skipper.

Previous meeting

A Mandhana special in Navi Mumbai had consigned DC to their third loss in four games then. After being put in, DC could post just 166 after a half-century from Shafali and lower-order hitting from Lucy Hamilton. Bell and Satghare led RCB's incisive bowling effort, bagging three wickets apiece. In return, Mandhana and Georgia Voll combined for a second-wicket stand of 142 runs. Mandhana looked set to become the WPL's first centurion before falling agonisingly short on 96, though by then RCB had already sealed control of the chase.

RCB W vs DC W Probable Best Performers

Probable Best Batter: Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana missed out on her maiden WPL century by just four runs against the Capitals a few days back. She looked in fine nick all through her innings, but failed to get to the three-figure mark. The left-hander will have momentum on her side and will look to play another significant knock at a high tempo on Saturday.

Probable Best Bowler: Lauren Bell

Lauren Ball

Lauren Bell has been lethal with the new ball this season. She has in general been a tough customer to get away with for opposition batters. Bell has conceded runs at a frugal economy rate of only 5.40. The English pacer can be expected to continue her fine form with the ball.
