they made that scene entirely about Karan though it should have had been about both Kiran and Karan because both had loved that woman deeply...
P.S. while I often say that Karan was most decent child of Mihir who never crossed a line, but I really feel he did cross a line against Mandira...
Hating Mandira for her crimes was completely understandable but post that they made Karan adress Mandira by name in a very demeaning way.. even if your mom is evil that's not a way to interact.
they probably wanted Bharat ji Kekayi equivalent here(because Shanti Niketan already had Ram ji in Mihir and Lakshman ji in Hemant to ab bas Bharat hi bache), but Bharat ji despite being utmost angry at Kekayi to the level of breaking every bond with him didn't demean her
I kind of disagree. Though Mandira may have loved Karan in her own way but she deeply traumatized him. She lied to him about his father, used him as a tool to take revenge on the Viranis, and used him to get close to Mihir. Somewhere along the way, Karan realized he was being used, and that her love was conditional and driven by her own agenda.
As a child, he grew up surrounded by lies, hatred, and vengeance. He was made to believe a false version of his own identity. Eventually, that truth shattered him. Mandira didn’t stop there - she faked her death, tried to run away with Bhoomi to Australia, and even kidnapped Parth.
Given all this, how can Karan still be expected to love her as a mother? Love cannot survive manipulation, deceit, and emotional abuse. He didn’t abandon her - he finally chose to free himself from the trauma she caused.
