They don't have a proper story but Smriti is carrying the show. I'll keep watching.

Well… the show is based on Muslims so this is a very normal thing in their culture. They practically even get married to their uncles. I remember there was this really viral clip of a woman from Pakistan who was married to her own Mama. She was laughing when she said she went from calling him Mamu Jaan to Jaan. The show is problematic to us because to us this isn’t just acceptable but they practice it. Frankly I don’t think I’ll follow the show ever because I find Parth very mediocre as an actor but if they’re showing this stuff then they’re gutsy enough to show the world that is true to the community that their characters are shown from.

that's not true, Muslims don't marry their uncles, on the contrary that used to happen in India. even now it happens among South Indian Hindus (only to their mama)

Muslims marry their cousins for sure though. maybe the video you saw would have had the groom being a cousin of bride's mother. many people call them mamu.

but yes child marriage does happen in Muslims. even in India, the Muslim personal law doesn't have a fixed minimum age for marriage. they just require the girl to have reached puberty. for every other religion in India minimum age for marriage is 18 for females and 21 for males.
