Hamza was supposed to be from Baloch, where everyone feared SP Aslam.

I thought Hamza's cover was blown when Donga looks at him with disbelief for not knowing SP Aslam but then goes on explaining the Jinn story. Maybe donga was all brawn, no brain or it was a miss in the writeup.smiley36

There might be some spoilers in this post.

Rampal’s character was CRAZY and he wasn’t hiding just how psychotic he is and the actor played him perfectly. I’m extremely impressed with him. What the heck was that one scene where he was torturing the guy he thought was the informant?? My heart nearly stopped when he pat Hamza on the back saying he knows who informed India about the attack I was sure he knew it was Hamza. Another scene where I thought he was surely caught was when he came back home in the morning and Yalina was crying and angry thinking he was cheating on her I thought she found out who he really is. Speaking of which that scene truly broke my heart the way Hamza had to act like he was happy about the attack and even mouthing the words they were screaming alongside while he was shattered and still very much in shock and the flashes of him seeing blood on his hands because he was involved in the dealing of the weapons used ngl it made me tear up. Which is why I ask if Hamza is actually based on a real spy or is he completely fictional??

I’m very excited for part 2 as well. What an amazing film.

His character is inspired by undercover spies but is fictional, as in there is no known spy with that name or these exploits, atleast not known publicly. The undercover RAW agents operating Pakistan are infamously referred to as the unknown men cause whenever there is a mysterious death of a Pakistani who is a threat to Indian interests, the reason is listed as unknown men being behind it. These unknown men have become synonymous with Indian hand being behind it, in Pakistan. Hence even in the film credits they dedicate the film to the unknown men.

Was SP Aslam as popular and feared in Balochistan as he was in Karachi and Lyari in particular?

So many people around me are going for a 2nd viewing. My Mausi and my 2 cousins going for the 2nd time within a week. Me, my husband and my mother who saw the movie together the 1st time are now tagging along with my dad (more like dragging him with us, he said he doesn't like gore/violence) to watch it again.

Speaking about the gore/violence, apart from the head bashing scene by Rehman Dakait and the torture scene, nothing felt really gruesome to me because it was all realistic. This is what happens in real life. Real life combat, gang wars are bloody, messy and cruel. That's why the film feels so immersive, like you are a part of it.

If this was a Hollywood movie, Aditya Dhar would have been the foremost contender for the Best Director Oscar

Hamza is asked in the hospital scene by Uzair where hails from in Balochistan and he names a village, can’t recall the name, and Donga was present there.

The scene where they talk about SP Aslam is after this so it’s very possible that Hamza is from a very remote area of Balochistan. Also, we know Hamza entered Pakistan by bribing the guy at the checkpoint while showing a passport. So he’s not a citizen of Balochistan, Pakistan.

Balochistan as a territory has been divided between 3 countries too. Pakistan occupies a part of it, Iran does too and some lies with Afghanistan. Given the passport scene it seems Hamza names a village in Afghanistan or Iran that falls into the Baloch territory. So it makes sense if he doesn’t know about Aslam even if he hails from Balochistan because that village can be in either Iran or Afghanistan. The territory occupied by Pakistan itself forms 47 percent of their land area, so technically even Pakistani occupied Balochistan is not a small area if it constitutes for nearly half the country’s land area today.

Aslam might be well known in the most prominent regions of Balochistan but there might be remote villages and towns that even he didn’t care to visit or have anything to do with. So I don’t think it’s an error.

What came across like an error to me was Rehman’s younger son seemingly staying the same age even after years. We know Hamza entered Pakistan in 2004 and it took him a year to get an opportunity to even meet Rehman personally so it’s 2005. That’s when the wedding happens where Rehman’s older son gets killed. The younger one is saved and we see the same boy again in 2009 when Rehman is arrested by Aslam from that bridge. IDK it seemed like they had the same actor playing the kid again 4 years later. He already seemed like a preteen or in his early tees at the wedding, so in 2009 he should have been shown older, nearly an adult even if he falls short by a year or two.
