Their scenes are truly good.

I am really looking forward to how they’re gonna develop these two characters in the next movie. I think they will recreate the scene we saw in Gehra Hua, the one where he sneaks into her room and she picks up his gun and points it at him. That scene was not added randomly, it’s a clever foreshadowing of how it will play out again in the future when Yalina discovers the truth about Hamza. I really wanna see how they recreate it and more specifically what they have him do, how he handles her anger.

For a spy thriller with a very limited screen-time for female characters, I like how nuanced the relationships are written. There are 3 couples in the movie - Rehman and his wife Ulfat, Hamza and Yalina, finally Yalina’s parents. The least screen time is for the parents but we see them function as a unit when it comes to their daughter, though we don’t see much of them.

The primary focus is on Akshay and Ranveer as characters; and we see them handling their partners in their moments of anger so well. When his wife slaps him in the hospital Rehman doesn’t react, simply takes her face in his hand and hugs her softly murmuring Meri Jaan. A lot of people make fun of that scene by saying that no matter who you are when it comes to wife everyone gets intimidated but that’s not the case here. Rehman doesn’t see his wife there slapping him but a mother who has lost her child. Both of them know that their child’s killers won’t be spared, but they even know that the only one among the two who will have the satisfaction of punishing their culprits personally will be Rehman, as we see happening eventually. He doesn’t spare his alleged father for getting his son killed. Ulfat however would never have that satisfaction of personally avenging her child; even though her loss, her rage, her pain is no less than that of Rehman. The only person she can physically punish to get some sort of release of her anger is her husband, the father of her child and also unfortunately, the man responsible for the death of their child as this was his war, his enmity that led them here. He takes the slap because he understands his wife’s mourning their child; he can’t do anything to help her but he can let her have this. Aditya gave them this in their introduction itself and then we see how Rehman keeps kissing his wife’s forehead often.

So I am really curious to see what happens when Yalina eventually finds out that Hamza is a spy and she’s bound to believe that he faked his love for her though that may not be true necessarily. I think he genuinely loves her even if he may have intentionally set out to woo her with a goal in mind of getting close to her father via her. Their two scenes give that away - one where he’s drunk and comes back home after 26/11 post talking with Aalam on that bridge. She’s angry and he has just been devastated but he doesn’t take it out on her, let’s her yell at him even understands her anger is concern and also jealousy because she presumes he might have been with another girl, he tells her he wants to rule Lyari never explaining himself, never answering her questions; he asks her to never question him ever again or leave him but also promises her if she stays he promises her that he’ll solely be hers only. He doesn’t have to promise her that, not in a society where a man is allowed to have multiple wives and well, men all over the world are not above cheating but he promises her his loyalty - that’s not required for his mission as a spy but his personal call. In the end too we see him coming home to her, he tells her he’s hungry and then as she feeds him, he breaks down as the weight of the experience of that day finally hits him - he’s achieved his first success, he’s avenged his people in some way even if partly but there’s still a lot to do and a long way to go but this much itself was so exhausting and he allows himself the opportunity to cry to feel lighter and he doesn’t hesitate to do it in front of her. He allows himself to be vulnerable only in front of her even though he doesn’t explain himself. So I really wanna see what happens with them next. Fingers crossed, Aditya gives them and by extension, us as viewers, something good.

Omg so beautifully written….felt like I was reading a snippet from an intense romantic story….and wished it just went on and on….🙌

Your thoughts and mine are in sync on how beautifully the relationships have been portrayed and how sensible the men have been shown towards their women. Be it the slimy politician Jamaal or the hardcore criminal Rahman or the tormented soul on a revenge mission Hamza….That’s why the women are flocking to the theaters…even that item song was so tastefully done without any objectification…

Their story…yes I do think he definitely has a soft corner for her and may be even beginning to fall for her but his first love is still his country and won’t hesitate to kill her even if it comes to that….so I think their love is bound to be doomed and both of them are tragic characters….But this is all so predictable that way and I want the director to surprise us with an out of the box story…He did say Sara is going to have more to do in part 2….🤞

Thank you ☺️

For Jaskirat, his country is his first and greatest love; he got a second chance at life and more importantly a mission that gave him a purpose; his anger a channel and more importantly a chance to do something worthwhile and meaningful even if he never gets any credit from those he’s protecting.

Remember we see Maddy’s character introduce Mission Dhurandhar as giving individuals serving life sentences or those sentenced to death a second chance at life and more importantly a goal. He didn’t randomly choose Jaskirat, we will know why he was chosen and there’s something tragic about his backstory for sure that led him to prison in the first place, and that tragic backstory has to be related to a terrorist attack as well. Wouldn’t surprise me if his family hails from Punjab and was the victim of Khalistanis who we know are hand in glove with the ISI. Arjun’s character even mentions reviving activities in Punjab. He’s shown in prison in 2001 when Sanyal recruits him, and in Pakistan 3 years later. So his story, those flashbacks with his mom are from some incident in the late 90s when incidents happened in Punjab. He likely tracked down the people all by himself who killed his parents and then brutally killed them ending up in prison later.

Women are flocking to the theatres because they know even if the movie doesn’t have a heavy focus on its female characters not for one second has a single female character bee unnecessarily shown as merely eye candy and made to strip for a skin show in the guise of entertainment. Their short but meaningful roles are handled respectfully.

Their love story is bound to be doomed, one way or another. He may not kill Yalina but she can still die if he’s exposed by the ISI or even Rehman’s brother Uzair for revenge or just to punish him. That’s why I am curious about what Aditya depicts in the next movie regarding their fates. Given that the movie ends with a teaser of Hamza becoming more powerful in the next movie, effectively taking over Rehman’s throne, it’s very possible that the story progresses by a few years and we see that Yalina and Hamza are parents in the next movie to at least one child. Wouldn’t surprise me if Uri’s clips are included as well because the movie is about unknown men who have been killing terrorists in Pakistan. The news of these deaths is recent and that list has been progressively increasing post 2019 for sure. So Hamza has to get powerful enough to not only eliminate some enemies but also perhaps create a network of his own. He may even take on the role of a mentor/guide/partner (much like Aalam does for him) for a new spy in the next one. The possibilities and potential is endless.

Dhurandhar has been watched...FINALLY!!. Don't remember the last time a movie stayed with for so long after it ended. Probably was Bahubali The Beginning. JUst like that film marked a new era of movies for Indian cinema, so will Dhurandhar. All these bullshit OTT, fake, glamorous spy movies are gonna get thrown out of the window. I legit have no complaints about the movie, every scene, every music note, every expression from all the actors was absolutely perfect.

It was Ranveer's show all the way, without a doubt. He carries the film. We get immersed in the universe through him, see the characters through his eyes. All the people saying Akshay stole his thunder have to be on some kind of crack. Just coz he got the flashy entrances and the groovy soundtracks, people are elevating him. But I am proud of Ranveer for choosing this character that remains in the shadows, builds up the plot and will explode in the next part.

Everyone has acted brilliantly. More than Akshay I liked his brother's screen presence to be honest. Uzair Baloch should set be more antagonising in the next part. Actor is a cutiee.

Hats off to Aditya Dhar for his vision and conviction. This success belongs to him more than anyone else.

19th March, First Day First Show is confirmed from my side.

Are you a writer or something….boy poora picture dikha diya…🙌

Yes their life together has no future unless Hamza forever remains as Hamza or he miraculously makes his way out of there taking Yalina ( if she agrees) along….But that’s obviously a different story and cannot fit into the premise of this movie….To be honest- other than making her double cross, I don’t see much future for Yalina’s existence in the story as far as the scope of this movie is concerned….If the director doesn’t give her any agency, you are right to say that she will get killed this way or that way…..

There are 3 groups of haters/ detractors….one is those who got offended by his Kantara feat, they loved the movie but simply don’t want to acknowledge Ranveer’s work, second is the haters of the movie who didn’t want it to become a hit taking their bhadaas on the face of the movie which is him to mock the director for how he couldn’t make anyone hate the character he meant for everyone to hate and the third group is our usual suspects from the Bollywood IYKYK….

An avid reader and a fanfic writer only smiley9

Frankly the possibility of Hamza staying as Hamza is there but how long he lives in a place like that, particularly in the kind of world he’s involved in is a different question altogether. He can get killed someday not because he’s revealed as a spy but because he’s made enemies in a city that has gangs, in a place where power is the most valuable commodity there is. But there’s bound to be somewhere he slips that leads to his cover being blown, after all, he’s only human and the story will not have higher stakes if his cover isn’t blown. The question is when, where, how and more importantly in front of whom in what manner.

Even if Yalina agrees to leave Pakistan with him to settle in India or another country altogether where they are both made to change their identities to avoid getting killed, there’s always going to be danger lurking over their heads as terrorist networks all over the world have a way of corresponding and sharing intel as well as eliminating any people they perceive as threats, or worse than that - traitors, which these two would be perceived as even if Yalina literally has nothing to do with anything of this.

Even if they were both to be safely brought to India where they could be protected by Sanyal and his people, even helped to set up their lives from scratch, the situation doesn’t change when it comes to their history. She is bound to always feel like he used her and probably faked his love for her in some corner of her mind no matter what, even if he proves he truly loves her and never deceived or used her. The foundation of their relationship will forever remain etched in lies as his very identity was a lie. She may never believe him completely regarding anything, even things she hears and sees herself because trust is gonna be the first casualty of their relationship once his cover is blown.

Any relationship without trust is doomed to fail even if physically they manage to make it to a safe undisclosed location and change their identities as well with all the official help that they need and can get. No one can help them in this aspect no matter what. So one way or another they’ll get separated I think, the question remains how and when.
