Yes, I agree.
There are so many talented graphicers in IF, and I truly appreciate everyone’s artistic creativity, all the time.
This time, I was in a hurry to post the thread because we were already behind schedule. Normally, we prepare everything, content, theme, badge, well before the 20th of every month. But I was travelling and extremely busy. I had requested members to kindly take the initiative to post this month’s announcement, but there was no response. So, as a last-minute effort, I went ahead and posted it myself. Yes, as the Mod of this forum, it is my responsibility too.
I always say that IF and every forum belong to all its members, not only Vijay's or it's Mods, it is never the responsibility of just one person. We are one community, and we should move forward hand in hand. If the badge didn’t look perfect, anyone could have prepared one quietly and shared it with me. Why not create a fresh version, and send it? Am I not one among you?
I am disappointed… normally I don’t speak this way. But I am trying my best, even in a hectic phase, I tried my best to ensure a smooth and comfortable contest for everyone.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, a human hand helped me with the badge. Please don’t overlook her goodwill and sincere effort. She genuinely tried to support me.
Let’s work together, that spirit is what makes a forum truly beautiful. I've already noted the point and decided to ask a graphicer to prepare the necessary badges well in advance from now onwards.
I would like to address some of your comments.
First, regarding the badge — nobody has mocked the work of a human, Madhuri. I would have had absolutely no issues if the same badge had been created by a person because we genuinely value the effort and creativity of an individual. I'm sorry but I don't share the same sentiment for AI generated work. For me, even the best AI output will always come second to something created by a human.
There are plenty of graphic-ers who would have happily created something much better if they had been informed in advance. I understand that you were busy, and I respect that. But a simple announcement would have been enough. You could have posted the badges much later.
For example, last month, nobody criticized my siggies for the BTRC, even though Leena, Shibz, or others could have easily made something 10x better.
The point is — you don’t get anything you don’t ask for. Everyone has a busy schedule, and no one is likely to volunteer for extra responsibilities unless asked directly, via PMs. If you had reached out, I’m sure someone would have stepped in and created something for the contest.
As for hosting the contest, I’m also busy and can’t manage it all on my own. If someone had volunteered to share the load, I would have been happy to collaborate.
Additionally, no one has commented on the contest itself, apart from the badge. So I’m curious as to why you feel your efforts aren’t being acknowledged. When Lizzie was organizing the contest, there were plenty of questions and feedback. Comments about the badge or questions regarding the contest don’t necessarily mean the contest is bad, right?
