Back then the actors had no problem with ageing onscreen and playing parents, grandparents, something which aaj kal ke ‘popular faces’ could never dream of doing.
Those actors had to earn their popularity the hard way - by actually being good at their jobs regardless of the shade of their character. They even worked for longer hours and adjusted like cattle in a single makeup room and vanity van. Just hear their interviews.
Nowadays these people do small roles on shows for a few days and then start brand endorsements on Instagram where they easily purchase false subscribers to show their popularity.
There’s over-exposure with reels and what not, back then people were thrilled with SBB and SBS segments because we didn’t know what would happen on the show beforehand much without them and also you got a chance to know the actors as they are rather than the characters they played.
Now you just need to see who follows whom or who unfollowed whom on Instagram to know their interpersonal equations offscreen and all the reels take away the questions regarding their personalities because no one is being authentic in them. They’re just trying to look goofy, fun and entertaining.
