Yup. The craze of K dramas was another level not just in India but in Pakistan, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Everyone who had a cable used to turn on tv straight at 8pm to start watching K dramas. I would hear the loud tv from neighbors and everyone in Pakistan. The neighborhood would become quiet at that time because everyone was busy watching K dramas. Fashion brands used to name their brands and clothes after Komolika, Kashish, etc just to increase their sales while some used to name their daughters as Tulsi, Prena, etc because how loved these characters were. Even the later show Jodha Akbar is still watched in Afghanistan and is so popular there. Shahi can’t even dream of such popularity for his characters. The only one who came close to was OG Akshara but only in India as OG Akshara isn’t known or famous in other countries.Originally posted by: zohakhan7
When there was no starplus channel in Pakistan in early 2000s then we used to have recorded episodes cassettes which my aunts used to get from the shop and after watching that they used to return it back and get another latest recorded episodes cassettes..That was the craze of K dramas here in Pak which this upma n team can't even imagine..

Ah… but this is where things get interesting.
Kangana has a difficult reputation as a costar, there are lots of controversies there no doubt about it but you see, while it may seem like she’s cut from the same cloth as RG for obvious reasons, there are a lot of differences too.
For one, Kangana actually has an acting range and a rather fantastic career. She’s made movies that are more in line with promoting what aligns with BJP as a party when she works as an actor, director and producer by making movies like Emergency, Manikarnika and the one about Jayalalitha (forget the name). Those movies create the kind of buzz that works for the party she’s a member of, helps create something about topics that were known to a certain extent to a few people but not the younger generation necessarily and provides a visual representation of a version of history that would have otherwise been repressed and never been made public knowledge.
She’s a loudmouth who has a knack for putting her foot in her mouth but it is this very attitude of hers that made people talk about nepotism in the film industry and opened up the Pandora’s box of the movie mafia that was never a part of the public discourse despite the knowledge of its existence being a sort of open secret but one that was never quite endorsed by someone who has a successful career to speak of as an outsider themselves. Most people didn’t talk much about these things before as they do now candidly and that has let to a huge amount of negative impact on the industry as a whole whether one likes it or not. She openly called KJo movie mafia on his own show leaving even her costar and co-guest Saif absolutely baffled and mind blown.
Today it’s no secret how Bollywood has worked against the interests of the country in many ways and she gets a lot of credit for making the common man aware of these things. Her ability to be articulate and make her point in Shudh Hindi was something that was sorely lacking in the industry. Outsiders who made it didn’t dare speak, nepotistic people didn’t obviously even care about the issue and those who were candid before were considered as failed actors with a case of sour grapes but you couldn’t stick that label to Kangana despite having issues with her.
KJo now has had to sell 50 percent of his stakes in his legacy company Dharma to Adar Poonawala; the guy who made vaccines for us during COVID and that in and of itself is telling something.
Lastly, in an election in which BJP performed so poorly that it was unimaginable and unexpected, she still won a seat in the state where BJP lost and minor as that contribution is, blabbermouth as she is as an MP who might not get a ticket a second time, she still got them that one seat that helped cement their victory today so she’s not entirely useless or a bad decision that BJP regrets completely.
You weigh the pros and cons in such things from multiple angles and when it comes down to it, despite her many cons there are pros that still outweigh the cons in her favour when it comes down to it and that’s what matters.
If she can be made a bit diplomatic and actually works for her constituency, I don’t see any reason why she wouldn’t secure a term again by popular vote and that’s where it counts now. Because popularity can take you only so far, the road up ahead is now completely different and requires more than just a pretty face that is well known too.
RG doesn’t even deliver on half of these things when you compare them. Her show has made homemakers feel like they’re worthless unless they’re earning their own money while it never addresses how is it that despite her being a stay at home mom who was so dedicated and involved in raising her children all of them are rotten eggs, why she cannot get a husband to stick around no matter what. When she is a homemaker her husband cheats on her, when she’s a working woman; she makes her husband feel guilty and worthless for asking the bare minimum of her in their marriage and just expecting her to leave her past behind her and live in the present.
When she doesn’t earn her husband humiliates her and she thinks it’s because she lacks financial independence that she stuck around in a bad marriage until the day she discovered he was cheating on her. When she gets a husband who absolutely worships the ground she walks on, she treats him like a door mat and then plays the victim card too to justify her behaviour and actions.
It got to a point now where people are actually being more sympathetic towards her cheating ex and thinking maybe he was onto something and the affair was a byproduct of being with a woman who was so awful as a wife that any husband would cheat on her.
She lives with the parents of the man who cheated on her now and practically runs the whole household while the man who was so supportive of her is presumed dead because the actor who played that character would rather suffer in Bigg Boss than spend another day on the sets of Anupama.
So, yeah… apples and oranges.
@b: This part actually made me laugh out loud! .
The thing is, even Gaurav had issues with Rupali. He wasn't thrown out because he was quite chummy with Rajan, but nevertheless, his character might as well be dead in the show.
But I do agree with what you said. Comparing Kangana and RG won't be on an even footing, since Kangana has worked more than RG, and in more demanding conditions. My comparison was merely based on their personalities. As for Kangana getting a seat again, it looks dubious, but anyone who knows the dynamics of politics understands they never stay the same. Today it looks dubious, but who knows what will happen tomorrow?

omg you really have a good perspective. You have summed it up right and it was such a good article to read
Smriti has been the broadcast minister once and she is a very old player in her party.
RG is gonna get cornered one day.I think she's getting karma back lol.
As for trps, kyunki will beat anupamaa in no time
Thank you
Smriti has worked in a lot of different portfolios as minister of human resource development, textiles, Information & Broadcasting, and recently she was the Women and child development minister as well as minority affairs minister. Ergo, the party will not just discard her after all the years she’s spent and the amount of time they have invested in grooming her for such things.
She joined BJP at the peak of her popularity when BJP was still dealing with a lot of controversial issues like Ram Mandir, Godhra riots and Vajpayee govt not exactly being able to promote all their good work and policies as well as one would expect or hope for.
So technically she joined them when she was at a high point and they were not exactly thriving, when she could have easily joined any of the other parties and they would have welcomed her with open arms & a red carpet.
People like Modi and Shah don’t forget that kind of courage and commitment and they justifiably reward it when the opportunity presents itself as they did when they made sure Smriti was included in the cabinet. To her credit, she turned out to be an asset beyond her popularity as she managed to get the points of the party across in a very articulate manner regardless of the forum, topic or the tactics of her opponents.
She lost her election this time and so she can’t be included in the cabinet unless she’s nominated to the Rajya Sabha and it honestly is not even a matter of debate that should that have been what worked for the party more and she was willing, it could have been very easily arranged for. S. Jaishankar has not become a cabinet minister via the Lok Sabha but the Rajya Sabha for example.
The sheer fact that she is on TV tells me that this was a deliberate choice made for a very specific set of goals that we may not necessarily learn about in its entirety but we may see the results of it once some laws are passed regarding the subject matter of our content, laws about the working conditions of the people behind the scenes and on it too amongst other things.
Time will tell.

Oh I believe that they had issues. If you breathe the same air as she does on those sets and don’t act like she’s extraordinary and you feel like a mere mortal in front of her then obviously it would irk her and justify her actions and behaviour with you even when you don’t exactly see the halo on the top of her head that she tries flaunting around.
Gaurav is talented and I would honestly love to see him paired opposite Divyanka in a show made by Ekta
As for Kangana, definitely dicey for now but she has until the next Lok Sabha elections to improve and if she can manage that then she can perhaps expect something in the future in return. It all comes down to her honestly and we don’t know what tomorrow holds.
I’m glad that Alka Kaushal didn’t post any cringe comments. She is the only actress that I like in Kachrapamaa.
Still can't figure out that aisa bhi kya tha that so many cast members got offended. My opinion: Ungraceful and OTT behaviour from Anupamaa team's side.
