Another game has been rained off.The points will be shared. Both the skippers shake hands and it is a truce. And this is the second no result of the tournament and both of them have happened in Colombo. SL move to two points and they have collected that thanks to rained off affairs. NZ move to three points. They would have had a tough chase today and would have been tested but that was not to be. The groundsmen tried their best but the bout of rain in two segments never allowed them a chance despite covering the entire ground. The persistence of the rain also didn't help. It is still raining as I type. We will be back tomorrow with another game at Colombo. But we have our fingers crossed!

Australia is leading the points table with 7 points closely followed by England and South Africa with 6 points each and India with 4 points. England still has a match to catch up with Australia and South Africa. They have a chance to improve their position.

Especially the way the last girl was crying 😭😭😭

BD-W playing so much better ODI than their men side did in the last 3 years! Had they somehow won vs ENG and SA, great chance for semis + tight slap on the male ODI team’s face

I did not watch the match, but, I know they did well with bat and ball. But poor fielding costed them the match against South Africa. Felt bad for them.

Cheers..

They were great. More energetic than whole competition. I would say they performed better than what India did vs SA. took them to lost over in 220 chase which India couldn't in 250 chase. But like always it came down to something which is not natural to us Indian subcontinent teams. Spectacular Fielding . Because of the grounds here. In western countries there is a proper sports culture from the lower tier of schools. And they have proper grounds too. Here schools and sports are 2 diff things. Even if schools that are very sports forward don't have lush out fields that's easy to field. There is always fear of injury so lack of practice. All 4 women's team suffer from it and all 5 men's team suffer from it. Stupid fielding.

Ranking wise India>Sl>Ban>pak

Mens team still can't complain because they get everything from start. Women's cricket literally picked after 2017 wc when India reached finals beating Australia. Another issue is obviously the environment to play.

These things cost us Indian subcontinent teams.

ENGW vs PAKW, ICC Women's World Cup 2025, 16th Match Pred.

England will look to extend their unbeaten run and tighten their grip on a semifinal spot when they face Pakistan in their fourth match of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025. The four-time champions have been clinical so far, while Pakistan remain winless after three games, struggling to find cohesion with the bat despite flashes of promise with the ball.

England have ticked most boxes in their campaign, displaying a blend of power and composure. Their latest win - by 89 runs against Sri Lanka in Colombo - was headlined by Nat Sciver-Brunt's classy 117, and Sophie Ecclestone's four-wicket haul. With two dominant victories, sandwiching a hard-fought win against Bangladesh, England have kept their record spotless and will try to keep the streak going in their second outing at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Pakistan, meanwhile, are yet to find momentum. Their bowlers, led by Fatima Sana and Nashra Sandhu, have shown heart - especially in the clash against Australia where they reduced the defending champions to 76/7 and later 115/8. But the inability to close games out and the persistent batting collapses have been their undoing. Beth Mooney's century turned that match on its head, and Pakistan's reply - 114 all out - mirrored earlier totals of 129 and 159 against Bangladesh and India respectively.

England will start overwhelming favourites, but Pakistan's bowling has shown enough spark to test them if the batters can offer some support. For Sciver-Brunt's side, it's a chance to fine-tune ahead of tougher battles; for Sana's, it's about trying to salvage their campaign and proving they can compete.

When: Match 15 - Wednesday, October 15 at 3:00 PM Local Time

Where: R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo

What to expect: Totals in the vicinity of 250 have been winning scores here, with the teams batting first having won thrice here in this tournament so far. A dry and slow wicket is likely to be on offer again, while there is forecast for rain.

Head to head: England are yet to lose a ODI against Pakistan, having registered 13 wins while two games yielded no result. In 50-over World Cups, England have a 4-0 record.

ENG W vs PAK W Match Prediction, Match 16 - Who will win today's Women's World Cup match between England Women vs Pakistan Women? | CricTracker

Did you know?

- Nat Sciver-Brunt has slammed three centuries and one fifty against Pakistan in nine innings, with 554 runs at an average of 92.33. She also has the most hundreds (5) in ODI World Cups

- Sophie Ecclestone has taken 30 wickets in just 12 innings in World Cups, at an impressive average of 12.93

- Pakistan's spinners have picked 11 wickets in three games - the joint second least in this tournament. Meanwhile, Pakistan's batters lost just two wickets to left-arm spin bowlers, the best bowling type in this World Cup

What they said

Obviously that's been a bit of a trend over the tournament so far, and I'm sure it's probably been something that a lot of teams have spoken about. I think we bat so deep, the depth in our squad is incredible. I think one of the really good things about what we've done so far is we've had one player from that top five or six who's really dug in and got a big score and really influenced the game" - Alice Capsey, on the top-order struggles.

14:00 Local Time, 08:30 GMT, 14:00 IST: Hello and welcome to game 16 of the World Cup. It is Pakistan taking on England today. England have barely been tested in the tourney so far. And Pakistan remain winless. They have had some moments of brilliance followed by some mundane and lackadaisical performances which hasn't allowed them to open their account. England would be very tough as opponents and Pakistan will have to play their A game. That is the strategical part. But weather at Colombo firstly needs to be kind for us to have some keen action. The SL vs NZ game yesterday was rained off. And the weather report for today isn't that bright either. So, we will have our fingers crossed and hope that we do get a game if not a full one.
