Why did Nepal ban social media platforms that too all of them together ?? These days they are a necessity. From information to our social connections to businesses, people are dependent on these apps. I understand many times they may need regulation or temporary shutdown but ban ??
So lets say Nepal bans American social media apps, what does Nepal replaces these apps with ? Chinese apps ?? I don't think that would be a good news.. Leaving a void will not be an option.
Unfortunately many nations don't have their own social media apps so these companies think they can arm twist the governments. They should have registered and complied to the rules when asked to.
Anyway Nepal govt should have handled this better. Once a section of population specially youth have tasted the fruits social media it is practically impossible to take them back to a minimalist lifestyle. Be that as it may protestors too should not have barged in the parliament building like this. Sadly young lives have been lost. Wish it was handled better.

They wanted them to have their offices in Nepal, too. Nothing wrong with that.
But the government shouldn't have banned them, rather fine lagana tha.
& unlike other apps
TikTok stood out as the only major global platform still accessible in Nepal. Unlike its competitors, the Chinese-owned app completed the mandatory registration process within the stipulated period, agreeing to share company details with the government and accept local oversight.
Ban lagakar Government galat chali gayi, and they public are doing the same that Bangladesh wale were doing.
Corruption ke naam per desh jala rahe hain, koyi sense hain baat ka.
Banning SM was a wrong move from Nepal govt. They must have thought of acting like China, where orher SM are banned. Almost everyone is addicted to SM. It gives freedom of expression. People in Nepal thought they will be suppressed. Hence such strong reaction.
Example of Bangladesh is recent. By taking over Parliament House only temporary victory is achieved. They need long term plan.
