I think everyone involved with any films has a solid idea of whether their film will work or not well before its release. So that War2 is a flop is not surprise to YRF. But whether they anticipated such a massive drop on its first Monday, that’s a different question.

Ultimately I think everyone will be fine. Even Ayan. Worst case scenario he’ll go back to small budgets and romcoms. YRF will hand D4 to someone else. The immediate concern is what to do with Alpha?

After Pathaan, when the Spy Universe was at its peak, Alia Bhatt lobbied hard to secure Alpha, but now she must be regretting that decision.

`Alia ka luck hi kharaab hain, whenever she runs after trends the trend more or less dissipates. Her lack of box office pull will be exposed further with Alpha. Only Love and War can save her now and most will not attribute its success to her given her succession of flops but instead to Vicky and Ranbir who are coming off hit films.

I think outside his home production he has 2 clean Solo Hits. 🤣 Tiger saved his a$$ in the first one.

Papa Roshan will come to his rescue again, the question is will YRF invest as heavily in Krishh 4 as they planned to earlier, after such a disastrous performance.

Krish 4, Dhoom 4 sab shelve hone waala hain. They will start going for small scale mid budget movies after Saiyaara's success.

Everybody is such a rush to trash this film as if their own money will double up in doing so smiley36

Film is not a trash, but results are not in favor.

Pathaan had same strategy, how about that?

According to YRF, Saiyaara was a huge scale debut that they had planned, have you seen this pre-Saiyaara write up on their YRF talent page for Ahaan. They brought in Mohit to launch Ahaan and pushed and promoted the songs fabulously which built the initial hype.

https://www.yashrajfilms.com/divisions/yrf-talent-management/ahaan-panday

When you read this page it is clear that they are betting on Ahaan to be the face of YRF and this was written before Saiyaara release. Aditya Chopra is personally invested in his career, they even mention how Aditya has personally groomed Ahaan and sees him as "the next big theatrical hero of India". They are being very upfront about how they will be pushing him to fill the romantic hero gap and how much they have worked on him for the past 7-8 years. Adi wants to rectify all the mistakes he made with Ranveer and many are saying Ahaan is his Ranveer 2.0 project. This makes me think Saiyaara was not a fluke, it was carefully crafted as a perfect launch for a boy who stayed loyal to YRF despite the delays on their part in launching him. Adi had told Mohit after watching Saiyaara that this was Mohit's best work and he was sure it would be loved and be a success, so they were sure about their product. The magnitude of its success though would have shocked them.

Different movie different stars...

Pathan was srk's comeback after years.... Everyone wanted to see it.. Whether they loved him or hated him, everyone wanted to check out out..... Also While there was negativity too but srk had a massive wave of sympathy for what aryan had been through which many people found excessive ...

Plus there was the stupid controversy about dp's bikini color that blew up... It was all over the news....

War2 was clashing with coolie, coming after 2 runaway hits were still running in theatres.... Plus 2 other films released (and tanked)

...... You need to entice your audience to spend money again so soon after they have been cleaned out...
