Disaster Monday: War 2 falls 75% to Rs. 6 cr., multiplexes cancel some shows due to no audience

The most awaited film of 2025, War 2, has crashed at the box office on its first Monday, failing to pass the make-or-break test. After collecting Rs. 125 crores in its opening weekend, War 2 has scored a disastrous result on Monday with estimates in the zone of Rs. 5.50 crore to Rs. 6.50 crore.

The Monday collections of War 2 are among the lowest of all time for a big budget film and has sealed the disaster tag for the mega-budget YRF Spy Universe saga. The Monday figures of War 2 ensures that the lifetime collections of War 2 will be under Rs. 175 crores. The 5-day total of War 2 stands at Rs. 131 crores, and the first week will be under the Rs. 145 crore mark.

War 2 is also the biggest failure for YRF along with Thugs of Hindostan, and this also puts a question mark on the future prospects of the YRF Spy Universe. The Monday collections have dropped by 75 percent from Sunday, which spells nothing but disaster.

The numbers have dropped all across the board, especially multiplexes where a lot of shows on the day were cancelled due to no audience. Interestingly, there were shows in IMAX too, which were cancelled due to no-audience, and this YRF film had exclusive showcasing on the big screen format

Wow...what a disaster. Alpha is in big trouble now. I think they should completely detach it from the "Spy Universe" if they want it to work or perhaps, they can dump it on OTT?

I bet YRF did not predict two things this year;

Saiyaara becoming biggest blockbuster of the year

War 2 becoming the biggest disaster of the year.

The profits from Saiyaara were completely wiped out by War 2, Agar Saiyaara nahi hoti to YRF ka diwala nikal jaata. Alpha is in serious trouble now. They should consider releasing it directly on OTT. After Pathaan, when the Spy Universe was at its peak, Alia Bhatt lobbied hard to secure Alpha, but now she must be regretting that decision.

Hrithik should wake up now, after back to back negative campaigns for his films, he needs to fire his PR team, sign more films and engage more in movie promotions. The movie wasn't bad and storyline or the fun factor was there as similar to War, but zero promotions and no effort from YRF did the damage.

This is why South films are superior, look at the marketing of big sequels like KGF2, Pushpa 2, Vikram, their team goes all their ways out even though all have big heroes, and then we have YRF with shitty writing, no promotions and sleeping for big films.
