Every outsider to get a break in Bollywood has to start with some achievement to get noticed. Either you see success in modelling and do ads , or win a paegant, or star in a music video or nowadays act in some small role in a web show . It is always quite a few steps before that big break in films. ( Deepika had the famous close up ad, Anushka was modelling, Vidya starred in a music video, look at Aneet who did so many TV commercials and small roles before Saiyaara) .

Madhuri wasn’t dependent on Subhash Ghai. I’m not even sure he had the kind of power to get her roles or help her career, certainly not in the way that some actresses today have powerhouses behind them. Back then, he was very popular and he presented the actresses very well. So Subash Ghai kind of helped Madhuri to establish in the industry.

I missed this the first time but I also disagree on Kangana. Aditya Pancholi was a nobody even when he had work. I don’t believe he did anything for her career. I’m not sure how many movies Kangana did with Mahesh Bhatt but he might have helped her get name recognition more.

Then, why Kangana lived together with Aditya Pancholi? He is a married man and he has a daughter that is almost same age as Kangana. Plus that guy is known as abuser and wife beater. You think she lived together with him for fun?

I still disagree. Madhuri wasn’t an unknown before Ram Lakhan. She may have given flops but everyone has. She also had given several flops before Dil Tu Pagal Hai. Doesn’t meant Yash Chopra backed her up.

Because she was a lonely young girl in a strange city and he was/is a manipulative abuser. There are many emotional and psychological reasons why she stayed as his mistress for years, none of which needs to be about Bollywood and him backing her up. If he had any power he would have backed up his own son.

There are plenty of lonely young girls in a city but no sane person would get into a relationship with a married man that is like her father’s age. Also, he is an abuser and a cheater. I don’t know what type of emotional support she got from him because she herself accused him to beating her but still she stayed with him for years. She also got into relationship with two other married man, Ajay and HR. What do you have to say about that? A good woman would not get emotional support from a man by breaking another woman’s marriage because they would know the pain of another woman. His son did not make big because his son became a criminal before making his debut. Somehow, Sooraj Pancholi is responsible for Jiah Khan’s death. If that incident didn’t happen, then Sooraj probably would’ve get few more offers but nobody wants to cast him with his criminal record except Salman but getting his son debuted in Salman’s movie is not easy. Only well connected people from Bollywood can do that. Also, his son is not talented at all but Kangana is more talented than his son. Even Salman’s power didn’t help his brother or his brother in law Ayush but that doesn’t mean Kat didn’t use Salman’s connections to make big in Bollywood. That guy Aditya has record of abusing woman. Before Kangana, he raped some teenage girl in the 90’s by promising her to give a break in Bollywood. If he can do that, then surely he has some connections in Bollywood.

I don’t know about her flops before Dil to Pagal Hai much but when that movie released, she was already a superstar and hits and flops are common in the industry. Many big stars gave flops. Like SRK gave strings of flops before Pathan but that doesn’t mean YRF backed him up. And before Dil to Pagal Hai, Madhuri gave hits like Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Raja. I didn’t say Madhuri was unknown but before Subash Ghai helped her, nobody cared about her in the industry. So somehow, Subash Ghai re-launched her and gave her a new life in the industry. I heard her parents arranged her marriage with a singer but the singer rejected her.

I agree but wrong comparison. Madhuri wasn't unknown but she wasn't a big name when Shubhash Ghai worked with her on Uttar Dakshin in 1987 and planned a big relaunch for her. He promoted her left, right and centre at one point which helped Madhuri to get offers. It's a common knowledge for all the people who followed Bollywood in the 90s.

It was her luck that her own film Tezaab became a hit before Ram Lakhan finished, so she became a star in her own right.

By the time Yash Chopra worked with her, her some commercial flops didn't even matter, because she had become an "icon" by then.
