With the kind of numbers that Saiyarra is doing, the question I want to ask everyone is that....
Is this just a "one-off" moment, OR is it the beginning of a new era and a generational shift, like some are calling it?
Last big generational shift that happened was kicked-off by Aamir and Juhi's debut, back in 1988 with QSQT. It kind of marked the beginning of a new era, which was further solidified by debuts of several new stars in following years, and gradually took away focus from the ruling stars of 70s and 80s. The biggest beneficiary of this generational change was, I think, Madhuri Dixit, who despite having a dull 80s debut became a lady superstar in the 90s.
Then there was a relatively smaller but significant shift that started around 2007-08. It kicked off when younger actors began entering the industry (like Ranbir,Deepika,Anushka, etc), while Khans/Akki/Ajay started to enter their "superstardom" era, defining the 2010s. I remember younger actors like Kareena,PC,Shahid,Katrina etc also started to become prominent around this time.
So is Saiyarra, indeed the start of a big generational shift, or just the onset of a trend/phase that wouldn't last long?
