Lucknow Super Giants' captain Rishabh Pant(AFP)

BCCI punished Pant after finding him guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.

The LSG captain was punished with 30 lakh fine for maintaining a slow over rate. The fine was higher than the usual over-rate offence of 12 lakh for the team's captain because it was the third time LSG could not maintain the required over-rate this season.

"As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 30 Lakh."

I feel it is too harsh to punish the entire team for the bowlers' slow over rate, and that too with such a huge amount??!! It is against the spirit of the game. Rules should be to maintain order, not to demoralize players.

What is your opinion, friends?

Since it is mentioned that it was 3rd instance in the same season by LSG then it justifies the harsh punishment. Imo.

That's what happens in a team game. Team shares the benefits and also the punishments.

Spirit of the game is the biggest BS in cricket. Just usual garbage made by Losers to feel good.

I heard some commentator speaking that when a wicket falls, after few minutes of celebration, Dhoni sends everyone back to their fielding positions in order to avoid slow over rate fine - before the next batsman comes in.

CSK is in top position in the fair play awards table as of now.

This is exactly why Pant should never be an Indian captain. When the 3rd ump decision said Not Out then it should have been like that. Why was Pant being over smart and being extra stupid. That demoralizes the bowler. He was totally within the rules to do it. Yeah he made a error of crossing line but he did nothing wrong. Next time he wouldn't even try to do this even in a very crunch situation which could win them the game.

Pant is extra stupid and doesn't have a leaders instinct. More so because he seen with his own eyes the benefit of this. smiley37

In 2016 U19 WC, WI won the match vz zim doing this same runout thing. WI would have lost the game if they didn't do it. And would have got eliminated.

WI won the game, qualifies for finals, won the title beating India in finals which had Rishabh Pant as the WK and VC. Captain was Ishan Kishan. Rahul Dravid the U19 coach understood it long back that Pant can't be a captain.

BCCI is like our finance ministry. Finding new ways to extract money from players.
