8:15pm It's time for the toss. Axar and Shreyas are out in the middle. Shreyas, being the home captain, has the coin and he gives it a flick. Tails is the call but heads it is. Punjab Kings will bat first.

It's time for the toss. Axar and Shreyas are out in the middle. Shreyas, being the home captain, has the coin and he gives it a flick. Tails is the call but heads it is. Punjab Kings will bat first. Shreyas says the outfield is wet and they want to thus bat first. The fans are happy with the decision and that is a motivation, he smiles and adds.

Shreyas Iyer: We'll bat first considering the outfield. The fans are happy with the decision. If you see the trend in IPL, the players who are in form and win you matches win you the championship. That's a great motivating factor. The team is in high spirits.

Axar said he wanted to field anyway because of the weather. They expect the wicket to be good throughout and knowing the target will help their batters plan, he reckons. They have tried to keep a positive vibe in the dressing room by remembering that despite a lull in form, they are still well-placed. Vipraj Nigam is out, with Madhav Tiwari coming in.

The trend in the IPL has been of teams with in-form players winning the IPL, and with the crowd being electrifying throughout, it gives them great pleasure to come and play here. Important to tick the boxes right, he mentions. Results, obviously count, but also important to stick to your routines and processes, he concludes. Same batting line-up for PBKS.
