Like you said, it’s honestly not a big deal. It’s just an extra contribution for the team, which I’m happy to make. It’s mostly a matter of tallying the total pages and updating at the end of the month, something you've further simplified by having everyone update their page count in the Excel sheet. Last time, I did that myself (not that it was difficult then). Literally anyone can be the captain, and I’m happy to keep volunteering.

I just don’t want anyone to think, “Why am I always the one becoming the captain every month?” Hence, my concern.

That's what I thought . It looks really good! It makes you want to pick up the book and leaf through it.

Doing two buddy reads at the same time is difficult for me! It requires so much time and energy! I won't do two buddy reads simultaneously again in June. Doing one buddy read at a time is okay for me.
