Hrithik Roshan is more famous, okay, but Rakesh Roshan's films were very good even outside Hrithik's. Rakesh Roshan's brand of mass movies (the underdog turning the tables or revenge) had an audience. He was the best in that space. I used to love it and still think Bollywood misses such kind of masala movies.Originally posted by: IAmLuvBolly
Couldn’t that legacy have continued with Hrithik as an actor? He’s already more famous and successful as an actor than his father ever was as a filmmaker, outside of Hrithik starring movies that is. This would have made more sense if he was taking over as a producer.
My guess is they couldn’t find a capable director willing to agree to their vision and the ones that would agree with them wasn’t up to their standards. So Hrithik decided to DIY this movie, with YRF’s money.
Maybe the father and son duo are not finding a director who could capture that underdog masala like the 90s. And as Roshan Sr is old, Roshan Jr is taking up the mantle. It could go horribly wrong if not done right.
