Did not expect to be historically accurate. But the makers trying to pass it off as historically accurate is horrifying.

It's the present agenda...maybe in 20 years, it is another one... the narratives of the past certainly are easier to change with people one leaves in a struggle for the present life...
the movie literally begins saying it is based on the NOVEL Chhava. It's is close to history but has no dates mentioned. There ain't no real history without the dates. You have to situate the past in context.Originally posted by: GoodDoc_2105

it is made palatable to put on screen, otherwise it would have been another Kashmir files.Originally posted by: WWHSeokjin
it’s not historically accurate as Aurangzeb had inflicted more horrors and he and his ancestors were even more barbaric and cruel
what part of what was shown in the movie is not historically accurate? The torture and brutal death was not accurate?..by the way that was quite watered down..Originally posted by: GoodDoc_2105

was Aurangzeb a peace loving fair and lovely emperor? Even my heavily whitewashed ICSE books dint show Aurang as either of the two lol. A man who was heartless enough to murder multiple people in his own kith and kin ..btw his sister Jahanara, Shah-Jahan married his own daughter and kept her as his mistress since she reminded him of Mumtaz She even got the title of mistress of all ages by the amazing and greatest man in the history of mankind ie Aurang.......Mughals were surely the epitome of peace and fairness and misrepresented by current religious people lol.
Is it not possible that Panhala fort bits and all of that stuff that you read on wiki which can be edited by anyone and everyone could be fake or the "other propaganda" as well.. I wonder why someone who allegedly defected to Mughal army would be then hunted down by Aurangzeb and why he would refuse to convert, and bravely face all the torture, if he was once upon a time their accomplice? Questionssssss and more questionsssss..
BOI shouldn't be comparing sequels like Stree 2 and Pushpa 2 as they come in with a ready fanbase. They were the most awaited films too.
Chaava's performance is simply incredible.
Oh, I don't complain...I knew before that it is based on a book and didn't expect nothing what I didn't get I wasn't disappointed as I focussed on Vicky and Akshaye and their performances (and got some other good performances as a plus
).

To shine, Chhaava allowed them to shine first!

I am not concerned about the invaders because there are good reasons why they are referred to as invaders.Aurangzheb's cruelty is well documented. Don't even want to go there.
But why was Sambhaji Maharaj glorified? Why did his own father the great Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj put him at a distance? What about Sambhaji Maharaj's own moral behaviour? Were there any references to it?
After his father kept him at a distance did he not defect to Moghuls? Was it not part of the history? How can somebody who plots against his own father that too one of the greatest Kings India ever had be glorified in this way?
It is simple truth. To get what he wanted he was willing to make a deal with his father's enemies.
Later in his battles with the Portugese in Goa and surrounding states the war crimes he and his soldiers comitted are also well documented. Goan women were sold off to African and Arabs. This is also well documented.
No matter who writes history events cannot be erased.People can claim that his history was recorded by people who hate him but nobody can deny these events.
Ultimately his own people and Peshwas ditched him and he was handed over to Mughals. Why did his own people ditch him?
How did this man become champion of Santana dharma?

I do not think this is right as per history
Shah Jahna never married his own daughter jahanara ever
Chandini chowk was built in delhi by jahanara
Just because a father loved his daughter very much and gave her utmost freedom like a male child you cannot say its incest
He just loved jahanra a lot like todays 21st century dads and indulged in her fulfilling all wishes giving her all freedom - we cannot say that as incest
Jaharara was only princess who had own palace outside agra fort and could live independent like a man(ike her other brothers) in those times
Jaharana had her own palace her own house hold and ran it herself(say like Razia Sultan before) which was unbelievable in 16th century as in those days woman cannot live alone and own a house or palace etc only male can
also she got her own mansabdari and could make decisions like a crown prince or emperor like a shah jahan or dara sikoh in those times (about court and empire)
Hence men of those times might be highly offended that she had so much power and lived independent of her dad and brothers (even aurangzeb who killed all his brothers and even sister roshanara after few years dared not harm or kill jahanara so you can understand how powerful she was in court and empire)
Reason jahanara and roshanara never married was all their cousins of their age were killed by shah jahan i mean his brothers and cousins kids who could have married jahanara and roshanara
and those times mughals girls only married mughals cousins etc
Also jahanara was like 15-16 when mumtaz died so she became defacto house hold head after mumtaz died for her siblings. Because Shah jahan never gave his other wives much power after marriage(his first two wife were rajputh princess from amer and jodhpur not mumtaz, its said his dad did not like mumtaz or her father much hence married him to rajputh princess first) except to mumtaz mahal and after her jahanara took over mumtaz responsibility in family and court (usually mughal men trusted sister and daughters and gave them more powers than wives except one or two emperors). Even akbars first 3 empress who had all power first tww are his cousin sisters ruqaiah and salima. Only nur jahan and mumtaz dominated over husbands and never allowed emperors sisters to get power rest all emperors gave power only to sisters or daughters over wives.
Even aurganzeb eldest daughter had same powers as jahanara till Aurangzeb imprisoned her for following sufi system and celebrating rakhi and holi with her younger brothers in fort when aurangzeb was on war
Aurangzeb youngest daughter too later was given same power as jahanara after her elder sister imprisonment (although aurangzeb had wives)
So you can see a pattern that later mughal emperors gave more powers to daughters over wife to run and make decision on empire and court or house affairs
