Personally I do feel people here are too critical of the episodes. I can understand the reason because many of you are OGs and try to compare the recent episodes to old ones.
One thing I would like to point out is that it might be time for CID where they focus on one case per week and two episodes on Sat-Sun each lasting for about 40 minutes (without ads). Right now it feels like either the case is too fast paced because it is focused on investigation so we hardly get any development of characters or relationship building between characters.
On the contrary when we do get episodes focusing on relationship building or character development we barely get any investigation. For example, yesterday’s case they didn't have much clue who the khooni was and within last 6-8 minutes of the episode they solved the case.
Another benefit is that this would encourage retention of audience on Sunday. I hope CID will consider this because with time everything has to change.

I think you're not fully wrong, but not fully right either.
See when Sony TV first announced CID Season 2, they announced it as a return of CID. They used scenes from the first season (those 20 long years of amazing episodes) to entice those millenials and Gen Xs who grew up the show. I'm a millenial and the age group we belong to typically means that most of us have spouses and kids.
Sony tried to cash in on that bigger demographic by using the nostalgia factor of the OG CID. They brought back our much-loved trio and Dr. Salunkhe. They presented us with Abhijeet's daughter Shreya (and now his past). They made an ode to both Dinesh sir and Freddy. They brought back Pankaj and Purvi. And now Sachin. They did all that to ensure that the nostalgia factor would be at its peak so that we would definitely watch the show. But along with that, they also expected that we would watch the show and have our families watch with us so that their audience base would increase.
Now what they didn't count on is our strong love for the OG CID so much so that we would be expecting something similar (if not the same) to OG CID where investigation was important, but so was the interpersonal relationships and the character development.
Now that being said, I do also agree with you. Instead of continuously comparing OG CID to this season, we should appreciate this season on its own. Some episodes are better than others. That was true even in OG CID, but instead of trying to compare to the OG level, we should enjoy separately as well.
This episode was okayish. I liked that Dr. Salunkhe and Gargi had more screen time and that they had this concept of drugs bringing out someone's worst nightmare. Also not being able to guess the murderer in advance was a nice one because it has been easy in many episodes. However, that being said, the jump in the investigation was a bit hard to follow and seemed a bit rushed.
Overall I'd give it a 3 out of 5 though.
The Episode was EXCELLENT. Really enjoyed the performance of Narendra Gupta (Dr.Salunke). His acting was Brilliant and about Dr.Gargi, her performance was also Good.
