Vasuki is the ruler of Patala but he doesn't reside there. He is around Shiva's neck and probably rules remotely. I think he might visit once in a good long while or maybe project his ... uh... hologram, maybe... to check what's going on.

The one who plays Vasuki here also plays Vasuki in Shiv Shakti (also in Lakshmi Narayan, I think)...

We had Sugriva, Angad, Sesha, Vasuki, Vasishta and many others in this show with coloured foreheads...

Also, from what I read, I still don't have a clear idea what exactly the Gandharvas did to have Bharatha annihilate them... They seemed to have troubled Kekaya in some way. I don't think Valmiki Ramayan mentions why exactly the war happened. I find it odd that Rama would send his brother and army to vanquish an entire sect of a race just because the land they occupied was rich... Or maybe I haven't read the proper translation... Anyone knows why this war happened? Valmiki Ramayan or other versions?

I remember reading that Ayodhya received a message from Yudhajit but the reason wasn't so clearly mentioned if I remember correctly... It was something like Gandharvas occupy a land that is rich in resources and they asked for Rama's aid in vanquishing them so that the land can be claimed (hinting that it can be given to Bharatha or/and his children). I wonder if the Gandharvas did something to the Kekayans or were they simply threatened by the presence and procreation of Gandharvas that they asked for help...
