Why even say things in an interview that can be 'misinterpreted'. Why using other filmmakers' name when he has made movies himself and can talk about their success despite lacking logic or realism...

He isn't a 'newborn' to the media/social media circus...he is very well aware of what media do to get attention?

Very weird take from you. We all dislike KJo .. but he really did not say anything wrong. And he has every right to comment on another person's work, esp within his industry. You should instead be questioning the media and their perverted relationship with sensationalism

His assessment of movies like Bahubali, RRR, Animal, Gadar were quite accurate - there are a lot of fantastical elements in these movies which lack logic but they work within that universe because of the sheer conviction of the director and their belief in their story and their character.

The only thing KJo did wrong was attempting to justify his comment.

CMT, I still uphold my slight criticism (and agree to your last line), that there was no need to name other movies/filmmakers to bring forward the point of how important conviction to the own story can be .

"can be", because even filmmakers who had a loooot of conviction in the story told (and brought it across convincingly - imo - through the filmmaking), had no success with the release...

As I'm a fan of well told stories (according to me, of course), I loath the fact that some stories pretend to be 'convincing' and still the movies get hyped into high numbers.

Agreed. He should have alert before talking anything.

I can't 'verify' what Karan really said in the interview with Komal Nahta - it's in Hindi with only Hindi subtitles...

I got this article now...and I maintain that this logic-conviction argument is - to my understanding - a pseudo-intellectual one. I immediately would have questioned this take as an interviewer (Don't know what Komal did, though.)
