Pushpa 2 Movie Analysis | Positives Vs Negatives | Pushpa 2: The Rule |Allu Arjun |Rashmika |SoSouth

Due to a stampede during its promotional event, Pushpa 2 has already caused a stir, created a few ripples in the society and set a record for its highest revenue collections!

India's most violent film caused viewers to throw up in theatre, beat Pushpa 2 at box office!!

There is a lot of violence in Pushpa 2, and it grows worse as the movie progresses, getting much worse in the second half. The majority of the violence occurs during combat scenes, which include a lot of slow motion and other effects along with weaponry including rifles, axes, sickles, and spears.

This film has taken the box office by storm and is also causing quite a stir due to its violent scenes, with many viewers calling it gorier than Animal, Kill.

Some of the violent scenes includes:

Several persons are bitten in the neck and arm by a character who is bound at the hands and feet. His mouth and teeth are later seen to be bloodied, and occasionally you can hear a crunching sound as he bites down.

A sickle is used to stab several characters in the crotch, throat, and stomach. In a close-up, the blood and wounds from the three cuts on one character's neck are visible, and the sound of the cuts is audible.

Sexual violence themes...is this much violence is necessary to move the theme forward?

The film includes sexual violence threats and depictions of sexual violence, although the depictions are not graphic. In one scene, a bunch of males at a festival push her about and make jokes about stripping her until someone steps in and pushes them away. The same men, including one who was recently freed from prison on rape charges, later kidnap her and hold her hostage. They make disparaging remarks while pushing her, tugging at her hair and clothing, and exposing various body parts. These scenes could be distressing, particularly for viewers who have gone through similar things.

Are these films promoting violence, or are they presenting the image of Indian cinema, it's tech expertise abroad? Is cruelty now considered as heroism?

Are such movies put into record collections because of their theme or gory incident's presentation?

Are we moving forward or jumping in to violent conclusions??

It's been given an R certificate. (for 16+ only)

But I'm noting that this is the trend everywhere these days - movies are made with such scenes to induce shock factor. For eg: Game of Thrones. The scenes are gory and terribly graphic. But after the initial shock, as a viewer you begin to get used to it and even expect it (for some). I can speak for myself when I say that after a point watching GoT, I began to get desensitized to these scenes which on introspection, I did not think was a good thing at all. I first resisted watching the series BECAUSE of these scenes and then once I began watching, I was so sucked into the story that those scenes did not matter or if they did, I ignored them. I found myself brushing away my so-called triggers. (Sidenote: I did stop watching after what happened to Sansa in S5 but then, did end up watching the whole series BUT I have never re-watched and never will). One can argue and say it's all fake and make-believe, but this desensitization can spill over to reality too. I'm not saying it's always the case, but it can be, especially in a cinema crazy nation like ours.

I feel this trend is worrying - not just in our movies but in all media globally. And why talk about media - open violence and hate is everywhere these days.

And what's more - even if Indian movies/ shows have stricter guidelines and censor stuff like this, there are all sorts of media easily available at hand for consumers. And film-makers and showrunners will keep doing it, either on demand from producers (because movie-making is, after all, about commerce too and not just art) or from the way the public responds to something. If Pushpa 2 is a hit, it will only encourage more film-makers to add such content, because it seems to sell, right? Look at movies like Animal and Kabir Singh that were heavily criticized but still did great business. Who cares about humanity and ethics when you can make easy money?

Replying because you tagged me smiley1:

I can't talk about the content of the movie as I've only seen photos here in the forum. Neither Pushpa nor Pushpa 2 had my interest apart from the reactions it got. In the review thread, it mainly was a question of numbers smiley2

You are right about desensitization.

Nowadays if I watch any violent movie, I feel like i have seen worse. Seems like a global subconsious programming. We are now so used to it.
