but i see nothing different from typical itv. this story is common (or maybe most of it is). old itv had great OSTs and huge sets. the only difference is a good second lead and the color grading

Before satellite channel boom DD was the only channel to majority households.
We used to have one antenna which was needed to be adjusted so as to watch.
Even after satellite channels came, many families didn't get it saying that it will make children into TV and not into studies

Arre I started Sony LIV subscription yesterday to watch it, but it wasn't what I wanted it to be somehow..
Why was bringing that Abhijeet's daughter needed.. and was Abhijeet so emotional that he would kill someone who made a mistake causing his daughter's death and get into jail and forget who actually had planned her death
DD is super popular and had fantastic shows. But it's a Public broadcaster which means it has some restrictions and can't be paid and since there is no source of direct revenue from public it had limited budget. They only had ads and govt funding.
So when Elite paid channels were introduced in India DD went down because they couldn't match the money power. The DD shows just couldn't match the quality. It almost became caricaturish and cringy. Thier titles also same. 
After many many years they tried new shows by Forcing Padmshree Ekta Kapoor but she also withdrew after 1 show named Pavitra Bandhan.
Now No one wants to invest in DD because you have channels like Dangal. Dangal is Free like DD and makes better shows with no restrictions . So at this moment DD is just going through the motions. They make good documentaries and history shows but not fiction ones. Like they started the Swaraj in 2022. A 75 episode show based on the unheard struggles of Independence.
