Par lay - woo meow Fran say apres reading set roman ? 😆 I read GWTW when this argument broke out between two girls in school. One said it was romantic and a great book. The other said it was bad. She said it with such passion tht I needed to know how bad it was. Well the politics of the book is messed up and the stair scene is far from romantic but it is well written. Quite the page turner. The film had great photography but I found it boring except for the Melanie bits- she looked exactly like I had pictured her in my head.

The name of MA's restaurant reminds me of a brothel lol. It sounds like a euphemism. The words ' scarlet' and ' house ' go well together. Bawdy vibe. But it looks like a nice place.

I’ve only seen the 1934 Hollywood adaptation

According to Wiki
It’s the best known of the Pimpernel movies,
is often considered the definitive portrayal and adaptation,

Oh yes, it helped me a lot, but not more than passing a certain time in a region where French is the native language smiley1

Well, I sensed that y o u r thought would be more on the naughty side smiley36

As for GWTW...I wouldn't reread it now...but I liked Clark Gable as Rhett Butler and Olivia de Havilland as Melanie...oh yes, it was a famous movie at its time (and what a fascinating process of making it).

Why no mention of the luminous Vivien Leigh? Wasn’t she a perfect Scarlett?

Or did you not like her castin after reading the book

I know that Vivian was hailed and praised (also got an Oscar) ... I liked her more in A Streetcar Named Desire which is the film version of a stage drama (and Vivian was more a very good stage actress, in my feeling).
