South Asian scifi

Currently working on my first novel, a scifi story (for now I would call it a space opera with some cyberpunk). My main inspiration are other scifi literature and some other media. I wonder if you could recommend me scifi authors from India, or any other South Asian country? Authors from the diaspora would do, too, as long as they write influenced mostly by their homeland culture.

If you’re looking for South Asian sci-fi authors, check out Samit Basu, whose Turbulence blends superhero themes with social commentary, or Vandana Singh, who writes beautifully introspective and speculative fiction rooted in Indian culture. From the diaspora, you might like Indra Das (The Devourers) or Ramez Naam (Nexus series), both bringing unique perspectives to the genre. On another note, storytelling—like self-exploration—is about understanding different perspectives. If you're interested in learning more about identities, supporting others, or just being more aware, this test could be insightful: https://psycho-tests.com/test/sexual-orientation-test Good luck with your novel—South Asian influences in sci-fi definitely deserve more spotlight!
