Lot of posts on the number of Bengali singers.
There are actually 8 Bengali singers out of 15, of which 7 are from Bengal.
These 7 are:
Subhajit Chakraborty
Biswarup Banerjee
Manasi Ghosh
Mayuri Shah
Priyangshu Dutta
Ranjini Sengupta
Srijan Porail
The 8th Bengali is Mismi Bose who is a naturalized Assamese.
Incidentally, Season 13 had identical number of contestants from Bengal - 7!
SRGMPA 2023 had 6 out 12 contestants from West Bengal, although the number of Bengali speakers was 4.
This has been a trend of late fueled by the success of singing competitions in West Bengal and the mushrooming of professional grooming schools. It is also a paying profession in the state with hundreds of musical shows all across providing sustainable income for those who do well on reality shows.

The promos showed Vishal saying that Top 15 ends here or some such thing. Are they going to add one as surprise entry? 🤔🤔 Coz they won’t eliminate in the grand premiere.

Oh wow they aren't even pretending to be looking for fresh talents anymore.

Mismi was also on IMPL on Zee...Sneha's been seen with ex contestants in the past too so I think she and her family are also close to the Idol team. And of course she's been on older reality shows too.

Do reality shows not want us to take them seriously anymore? Whether its the way they pick their contestants or the choice of certain judge(s), can't help but roll my eyes.

There were a lot of good contestants that didn’t make it. I don’t remember names, but there was a folk singer from Rajasthan and another one from Bihar who sang the traditional version of nimbooda. Then there were a few girls who sang in a westernized style.

I thought Sneha Shankar wasn’t all that great.

I liked #14 season's contestants' unique voices - variety more than this season.

Vastav Kumar looks familiar. Did he participate in Saregamapa or something last year? Ritika Raj is also an Indian Idol contestant but I like her voice.

yes I thought I have seen him in other show or older season!

Chaitanya was there as a child - mauli (Parden if not spelt correct), sneha shankar was in previous junior season or other show as well.

Well, so much for the jhal muri that PD made as per the reels they showed 😂 I wondered why jhal muri and not bhel puri considering this round was in Mumbai. I guess the answer lies in the fact that 7 or 8 of the top 15 are from Bengal.

Not 5, 8 of them are Bengalis. They have written Mayuri Shah by mistake, it's Mayuri Saha. Srijan Porail is a bengali too. So that's like more than half of the top 15 are bengalis.
