Why many old movies r getting re released

Why so many movies r getting re released suddenly. Are ppl even going to watch it when it's already available on YouTube n OTTs.

There is no big release since stree 2 which released on 15th august.

Rerelese are in limited cities with limited shows, people are going due to nostalgic factors, nothing to do in weekend, casual movie watchers, people who like film but didn't see on big screen.

So there is a good amount of crowd who will pay until something major releases.

New movies are failing at the box office. Stree 2 has been an exception but everything else is failing and there's not enough new product either. So it's easier to recoup losses by re-releasing old favorites.

I think there's at least a dozen or so movies that are coming back to theaters over the next few months. I think they are successful, even with streaming, because some of these movies simply must be watched on the big screen with an audience. Certain movies are a communal experience.
