Popular actor Kanwar Dhillon who is better known as Sachin of Udne Ki Aasha speaks about his love for India and what he feels of Republic Day. This year India marks her 77th Republic Day, on this he says,”India, for me, is an emotion before it is a country. When I look at India today, I see growth, resilience, and an unstoppable spirit. We are moving ahead in technology, global recognition, and youth power, while still holding on to our roots and values. Of course, we still have challenges, but what makes me proud is our ability to stand united in diversity. India today is confident, vocal, and fearless about its identity.”

When asked about his childhood memories of celebrating Republic Day, Kanwar says,”My childhood Republic Day memories are very special. I remember waking up early to watch the parade on television with my family, the sound of patriotic songs playing everywhere, and the excitement of school celebrations. One of my fondest memories is going to school early in the morning for the assembly. Every year, people who had served the country were invited as chief guests. There would be Republic Day celebrations, flag hoisting, and afterwards, samosas and sweets for all the students, that was an attraction for all of us.”

He adds,”What made the day truly meaningful was the interaction with people who had served the nation. Listening to their stories filled us with pride and respect. As a child and school student, I looked forward to Republic Day every year. Those early mornings at school had a different energy they were emotional, inspiring, and truly special.”

I feel it’s important to remember that Republic Day is not just a holiday—it’s a reminder of our Constitution, our freedom, and the responsibility we carry as citizens. Enjoying the day off is fine, but understanding why the day matters is equally important. Even small gestures like respecting the flag, teaching children about its significance, or simply reflecting on our duties can keep the true spirit alive.

As a citizen of India, Kanwar shares two best things about the country.

The two things I love the most about India are its diversity—different cultures, languages, food, and traditions existing together beautifully—and the warmth of its people. No matter where you go in the country, there is a sense of belonging and humanity that truly defines India.”
