Our past generation remembers the situation at the time of partition of Bharat.

India & Pakistan, 2 different countries were created by political leaders of that time.

Entire process was neither safe nor smooth but worst for many people from both the sides.
Many people have suffered, lost their loved ones. Lets' remember & acknowledge them today.

On the eve of 14th August 1947, as the world witnessed the birth of two nations, India and Pakistan, millions of people faced one of the most traumatic events in human history. The Partition led to the displacement of around 15 million people, and nearly a million lives were lost to the senseless violence and hatred that ensued. As we observe this day, we should remember the immense pain and suffering endured by our people.

This remembrance is not meant to reignite old wounds but to ensure that today's generation is aware that our Independence came at a heavy cost. It is crucial to reflect on these events to understand the devastating impact of division and discord.

Let #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay serve as a reminder that whenever society is torn apart by divisive forces, unimaginable horrors can follow. Let us, therefore, strive to build a nation united in harmony, ensuring that such tragedies are never repeated.

I wish our politicians at that time were more practical. They should have given enough time for easy partition. Even if had given 2 months to the people. Both the sides would have gone through the process amicably.

They simply made the mess.

We even suffer now due to it.

People were killed then and people are dying now too.

Horrendous stories have been narrated by the senior family members …... suffered during the partition of Bengal into East Bengal and West Bengal . The loss of lives , property and precious possessions and the trauma of displacement can only be described by those who have seen it happen . I get goosebumps recollecting those narration’s by the family members who are now no more . smiley19

In fact, India was partitioned seven times in 61 years under British rule. Unbroken India extended from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean and from Iran to Indonesia. India's area in 1857 was 83 lakh square kilometers, which is currently 33 lakh square kilometers. Sri Lanka: The British separated Sri Lanka from India in 1935.

Many suffered because of the partition. smiley19The partition of India was on religious terms and was founded by dividing two regions – Bengal – which is the largest province in India – Punjab. Hindus and Sikhs fled Pakistan because they wanted a life that was not Muslim-controlled. And Muslims fled India, because they wanted to be in a Muslim majority nation.

Lord Louis Mountbatten assumed the role of the last viceroy on 24 March 1947. He announced the Partition Plan on 3 June 1947, declaring that the British had decided to transfer power to the Indian and Pakistani governments by mid-August 1947.

British civil servant Sir Cyril Radcliffe drew up the borders between India and Pakistan, in 1947, dividing the sub-continent very roughly into: a central and southern part, where Hindus formed the majority. two parts in the north-west and north-east that were mostly Muslim.

Ae mere watan ke logon, zara aankh me bhar lo paani|

Jo Shaheed Hue hain unki, zara yaad karo qurbaani||

Our freedom is the consequence of the sacrifices of generations of this sacred land of Bharat who fought the unimaginable horrors even after the nation was declared free from the clutches of centuries of foreign rule.

Hope we, the citizens of this sacred land, are able to live up to the glorious legacy, protect the nation and scale its glory to greater heights.
