CBN left in 2018 just before elections because he anticipated Modi to not get reelected in 2019 and he wanted to go with Congress to become the kingmaker. Special status to any state is an impossible task even a poverty ridden state like Bihar couldn't get that.
CBNs real estate interests overdeveloped Hyderabad, neglected the other parts of AP. This pushed AP into bifurcation mess by power hungry leaders like KCR. The hasty bifurcation was due to Sonia's greed and chiddu's over smart guidance, which backfired leaving AP without a capital. If not AP was never meant to be bifurcated in such an abominable mess and special status was neither the need nor a solution.
Few points people of other parts of India never realise is telugu people including Telangana are very cordial, inclusive and never pick unnecessary fights. Jingoism isn't in Telugu DNA.
I believe AP gets it's due recognition and development chances now. CBN has the ability to bring industries but he has to set aside his love for Bramaravathi and consider developing Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and other cities as well.

The NDA lost Chandrababu's support in 2018 because BJP backtracked on its promise to give special status to Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu has been under so much pressure from the opposition, Andhra people, and Pawan Kalyan. Pawan ridiculed him that he is afraid to confront the BJP for not fulfilling its promises.
