This suspicion suggests itself (still hoping that these numbers are fake).

IMDB lists only two producers: Yash and the one who was among the co-producers of Brahmastra.

That makes me doubt even more about the numbers given by the "sources close to the project".

How does an actor have that many assests to finance that much money? What is his stake in this film?

Yash's stake? I don't know except that he plays the antagonist (Ravaan) and supports the movie financially.

There had been a report that Tiwari tried to get Universal Pictures as a co-producer....don't know what is true of that.

This film sounds more and more shoddy every day.

The film stars 3 " 500 Cr" actors. DNegs the world's best VFX company is doing the post production. An epic collab of Hans Zimmer & AR rahman. Action by Ian Van Temperley of Jack Ryan fame and a massive supporting cast.

I don't think anyone knows the "Budget" other than the producers but why are people surprised that it's extremely high? They are trying to create a big screen extravaganza. A success would just mean more of these in the future.

Lastly people need to stop calling it a Ranbir film. Animal & Sanju are Ranbir films. Ramayana is a big scale multistarrer. Yash & Sunny come with massive fan followings while Ravana and Hanuman are equally important characters in the Epic.

Good (costly) ingredients to hopefully make the movie a 1000 cr success...

Sure. Not wrong. Knowing how big VFX companies and production companies work, it shouldn't take that long. Even Disney outsources work to studios in Mumbai and Bangalore and they pay in peanuts. The number of people who work on a big-scale product is ridiculous. I knew someone whose sole job was to make a character walk on a big-budget HW film and they were ranting to me about not getting anything creative to do.

Hope this film does well and more that that, it should be sensibly made.

However, people are not wrong to ask these questions imho.

600 days of post-production is just crazy and a very bad business decision even if there is nothing weird going on with the budget.
