Would Preity Zinta have played Geet equally good or even better ? - Page 4

Yeah Preity would have looked great in 'aaoge jab tum' sequences but There was this little meanness to Kareena's geet. Which I don't think Preity can pull off, she is just too cute for that.

Tho now I'm quite inquisitive about Shahid- Preity pair. They'll look cute for sure.

You need to watch her in Armaan. She plays a villain there and was nominated for a Filmfare. Plays a very selfish and egocentric rich daddy's girl who gets everything she wants and doesn't care who she has to destroy to make that happen.

The way this forum overhypes this role is bonkers. Nothing about Geet required some great acting.

Preity was amazing and very natural in some of her earlier movies but there is no one who could have played it as beautifully as kareena did..she was so ridiculously good in this role that you cannot imagine anyone here..Also there was this rawness and freshness in kareena then and her attempting something she hasn't really done before..with preity..that would have been another one of her similar roles..and she was really losing that spunk and presence post 2005..kareena brought life to Geet..if we are talking about Geet..and her dialogues after almost 18 years..it is only coz of how kareena portrayed her

I don’t think preity would had done as good bebo did. I could not imagine Preity waiting for a ex bf who abandoned her. I also believe that bebo shahid chemistry worked big time. Not so much about geet but how shahid character never given up on her. I think that is why the movie clicked. How she say possessive was so cute. Preity is an amazing actress but I think bebo was really good as geet. Her dresses, songs and how she decided to fight her own battle was perfect for the movie.

Jab We Met's biggest strength was its music, story and cinematography. So, to an extent, I think Preeti would have managed very well in her role. Geet in the first-half is basically Preeti herself.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom came out the same year and Preeti looked very good in that film, so Preeti would've looked very good as Geet too. I can imagine her in that role now..












But Kareena brought some kind of raw energy in her role as Geet, which would've been difficult for Preeti.

The audience was kinda moving towards the newer girls (Priyanka, Vidya, Katrina etc) and Kareena benefited the most from Jab We Met as she kind of reinvented herself with the film (which was needed at that time in her career.)

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was a total dumpster fire and it practically ended Preeti's career. Also, Bobby Deol in 2007 was quite done and dusted (even more than Preeti). So, Preeti-Bobby would've been a boring/flop pair.

Shahid and Kareena complimented quite well in the film. It is one my favorite roles of Shahid. I don't think Jab We Met would've been as iconic as we know it today, without Kareena and Shahid .

It's the same thing as Naina from Kal Ho Na Ho. Hard to imagine anyone in that role, apart from Preeti.

I remember we discussed quite a lot on this topic. imagining Preeti as Geet. Funny how this topic comes up every now and then.

I know a part of us will always wish Preeti did that role, as it changed Kareena's life so it would've definitely

helped Preeti's career. But Kareena deserves all the credit for Geet, there's no denying in that.

Just for fun, I face-morphed Preeti's face on Geet's iconic looks (see my post above).

Although the results aren't as good as I expected, it just gave me a glimpse of an alternative "what could've been" timeline, where Preeti did do this role. Would love to hear your thoughts on the pics above.

Like a walk in the park for Preity lol. It was similar to a number of roles she'd already done. And close to her real life personality. Done just as well if not better.

However, Kareena doing the role brought novelty and freshness to the movie. Preity was the obvious choice but Kareena was the smarter one. Smarter because Kareena surprising the heck out of everyone was a big factor to its box office success and long-term legacy. It was a very well-made movie so it was to do well regardless, but it's big impact is due to Kareena's casting and performance.

It brought a new lease of life for Kareena's career. Though, I wonder, seeing how Preity's career straight up died after 2007, would it have benefited her just the same...?

Since this topic is going on I do think that Jab we met u have have kept her longer in the game as it was better script then the movies she had given dates too and thus role suits her bubbly personality.
