We are all waiting desperately for Abhira and Armaan to fall in love, and are frustrated by the tortoise pace! We also cannot stand that Armaan still has feelings for Ruhi- why couldn’t he fall for Abhira in a few days like V did in Lost? There is a big reason why-
To first fall in love with Abhira, Armaan has to fall in love with himself. You know the saying you can only love someone if you love yourself and people will only love you if you love yourself yada yada. This applies to Armaan. Armaan Poddar is the guy who had to give up his love aka Ruhi for his family’s sake. They didn’t ask him to do it- heck they were unaware! He also knew it wasn’t a wise or noble choice- it was simply his selfish desire to please his family. He couldn’t stand to be the one who broke his brother’s family and faced his family’s censure- no matter what. He can’t stand their disappointment or disapproval so he tries double or triple hard. But Armaan knows what he did actually worsened the situation because Rohit left the house. His sacrifice actually ruined 3 lives- his, Rohit and Ruhi’s.
Ruhi is Armaan’s biggest what if. The one he wanted but he had to let go. The forbidden fruit. His first love. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not , if they are actually compatible or not in the long term. See it’s easier then people break up because they understand they are not meant to be due to incompatibility or different goals. Here Armaan’s and Ruhi never got to explore that. So they are still holding out to the heady flush of infatuation where they could have been together if family/ destiny didn’t separate them.
Then we have Abhira. Someone who destiny literally planted in Armaan’s life. They were strangers, then disliked one another, then were forced to marry, then slowly became friends and family. Obviously we as viewers can see that they are meant to be together. Their opposite personalities create a sizzling chemistry and they match each other just as two puzzle pieces. But they themselves haven’t figured that out- why?
Reasons-
Love is free- from all obligations and bounds. It’s not a burden, it’s a gift. It’s also a choice. Right not Armaan and Abhira are tied in a relationship. The only way they will realise its love is when they free each other. They realise that they are not forced to be with one another, they can choose to be with each other. And for that, Armaan and Ruhi have to be free to be with each other too. Ruhi will always yearn for Armaan and blame destiny until they are given the freedom to be together and they can’t be because Armaan’s heart has moved from Ruhi to Abhira. For this, the truth has to come out and Armaan has to become unburdened. That’s the only way all 4 can come out free from the past. Armaan has to break his shackles and Abhira will do that for him. He has to make the decision- not prompted by promises or family.
Abhira is a person who needs to be loved for who she is-
Not because she is your wife and responsibility. Abhira may be heartbroken and have her trust badly shattered but she will still empower Armaan and stand for his love story with Ruhi to unite them- because she cares for what’s right and valid than social norms and traditions. She will never hold grudges against them because she is not that type of person. But I won’t be surprised if she guards her heart and drives Armaan mad by not trusting him and not opening up!
And thus that will start their journey from family to lovers.
