What I am loving about them is that Abhira is unconditionally giving him mom's love which he didn't get while growing up. Vidya accepted him and called him her son, but he could never have any HAQ on her like a child has on his/her mother.
Meanwhile Armaan gives her the warmth, protection and stability in life which Akshara provided. Abhira never had dearth of motherly affection while growing up. That's why she is emotionally so strong. But what she didn't have was a father's protection. Armaan provides that unconditionally.
