I think more than that they have a fear of not being reciprocated.. Abhira is wary of his chit wali and to some extent of Ruhi as well, while Armaan thinks Abhira doesn’t want this relationship and his feelings won’t be reciprocated by her. She was the one who wanted out of this marriage in the first place after their marriage.

I noticed this abhi when I saw a twitter clip of that scene.

It was hilarious, like they behave fully as husband and wife , from showing care for each other, fighting for each other, defending each other, their trip and falls, getting worried for each other, they have always been together, always fight and have banters like proper husband and wife. Like it's not only MG and Manisha Chachi, but anyone who does not know that they are in deal marriage would think of them the same. Even ruhi with her delusions and after knowing the truth of their marriage - keeps doubting their relationship. Their physical proximity and emotional intimacy is like that of a lovey dovey husband and wife, even more than that at times. Abhira and Armaan aren't realising it because they don't wanna admit it - like they keep saying we are just friends but their emotional attachment has progressed to a different level which they aren't aware of. So abhira and armaan won't see what others are noticing in their relationship until and unless there is separation and they start to miss each other and the void created by their absence in each other's lives.
