She's probably pregnant and not feeling well. It has nothing to do with not wanting to work while pregnant but everything to do with her health. She could be dealing with morning sickness and/or other pregnancy-related issues.

Her being pregnant and out could be the main reason why they barely promoted the movie. Even with the limited number of promotional appearances they did, the handful of ones without DP already stirred up lots of questions... imagine what everyone would say if the promotions lasted for much longer and most of them were without her...with only HR and the others doing all the interviews and such? Invites even more speculation. HR and DP not doing a single interview together is wild, but a pregnancy (or other health issues) explains it all away.

Most of the actresses on that matter women hide pregnancy in the earlier stage not because it is something to be embarassing about but there is risk in earlier stage, and nothing can be said until few months in some scenarios. My sister colleagues shared the news to the immediate relatives and best friends only because of the same reason.

Read in the forum several times that Deepika was not important for the movie so how does it even matter if she promotes the movie or not? HR, Ksg & SidA doing the promotion is enough.
