I am still in shock that she won the National award for Mimi. So undeserved.

Indians are just too star-struck; they prioritize the stars over the movies. The only award everyone looks forward to is the Best Actor, unlike Oscars where Best Film is the highlight. In 2022, the top contenders for Best Actress at the Oscars were Kristen Stewart and Olivia Colman. Fans were mostly rooting for Stewart, but the unexpected winner turned out to be Jessica Chastain. People were sad but there was no significant outrage over it and no one hurled abuses at Jessica for winning. The real uproar is always directed at films like CODA and The Green Book winning. People were furious when these two films won. Films are valued and considered bigger than the stars in them.

Filmfare did well by awarding the Best Film and some other technical categories. I particularly agreed with the Best Cinematography win for Three of Us. The cinematographer did an incredible job capturing the essence of that village with their cinematography. It had some amazing shots, and some felt like moving vintage paintings. However, all these awards barely matter. The only ones that seem to count at Filmfare are the Best Actor awards.

Lol. Is this new for you? Are they awarded on the basis of merit or popularity? Filmfare has always been crap.

He might have gotten appreciation again I don't think he did anything all that challenging by bantering with different people during the film. At times friends, family, or doctors. I do not think he was deserving of half the praise he got. The fact is there were better performances this year. Vikrant and Vicky were better. Some people consider me an RK hater because I have always found him extremely overrated as an actor. There are more talented ones that have not gotten their due. Vijay Verma, Vikrant, Vicky is appreciated but not enough.

Filmfare's criteria for determining the best is a bit weird. It considers the popularity of the stars, which might seem odd, but in the Indian context, it somehow makes sense.

What sense does it make? They are just been awarded for popularity and nothing else.

The fact that a mediocre actor like SRK has some 20 awards which shows how worse these are. He literally won award for doing this.

Take a glance at best actress popular category this year.None of those deserved any nominations forget awards. The best actor nominations popular ain't far behind, most of them have been piss too.

I feel both Ranbir and Alia perfectly fit whatever criteria Filmfare has for winning the Popular Best Actor awards. Out of the seven films from KJo, four have bagged the Best Actress lead. The heroines of Bhansali's films usually secure the Best Actress Popular too. Unless there's another 'universally' loved performance from a hit film, these director-heroines tend to get the award. Maybe if Barfi or ADHM were released this year, Alia's win might seem unfair, but the truth is there weren't stronger performances in the popular category. Rani's nomination itself was biased.

@bold The category was for best actor female popular which means its for acting which Rani did perfectly so how does her nomination seems to be biased but Aloo who just wore pretty sarees n did nothing much extraordinary in terms of acting got nominated in same category isn't a biased nomination ?

Unreal hypocrisy by Aloo fans...oh wait her 15 min cameo win is also justified by her fans over Rani for Hichki so this isn't surprising anymore..

If my information is correct, the popular awards are determined by public voting directly at the FilmFare account(s). That would mean that most votes went to Ranbir and Alia...

Well, the movie HappyNewYear has taught us how easily public voting can be manipulated smiley36

To lose something, you must have it first. Filmfare never had any credibility. It was always a high school popularity contest where the plastics circle jerked and propped up other plastics.

It’s crazy the amount of divided opinion there is on animal

I personally loved it. Like legit one of the best films I’ve seen in the Bollywood action genre.
