After tb's sucess he only did mein which he signed before TB blew up. If anything he should be appreciated for not backing out from a signed project just because he got more popular over time and the drama is female orientated. It's the project with Maya and tb S2 for which he should be judged. Going by the team of the sun mere Dil, except the ph everything else is promising. Keeping kqr's personal views aside we cannot deny he gave memorable dramas and strong characters whether it's negative or positive. Haseeb Hassan is also a reputed director with multiple hits to him. So that project looks promising and it has to be really bad for it to not be a critical and commercial hit. No matter how the story or the team of tb 2 is he had no other option but to sign it.
Pink shirt again was shot way before his sucess and it's a bee gul drama so obviously it will be female oriented. He might have done it because of the team rather than his character.
The only thing he should have done is cut down on the ads and photoshoots. He didn't give multiple IVs or went on to multiple fan meets. A lot of negativity around him is not created by him. He has always been close to maya and it's not his or maya's fault if garbage in filled inside the head of some people. It's not his fault that people started noticing every minut details about him and started judging him and his actions and used it against him.
Yes. Pink Shirt, 22 Qadam, Jurm were all signed and shot before Tere Bin. 22Q was supposed to come out in Mar 2022 but Green TV's launch was delayed by 1+ years. Jurm and Pink Shirt I feel would never have been released if it were not for Wahaj's hype. Pink Shirt I still doubt will ever come out. Anyways, I always assumed Wahaj will have a secondary role or be part of an ensemble in 22Q, Jurm and Pink Shirt as he was still a B-or C-lister when he shot those projects. So it made no sense that such a guy would be the main protagonist in these shows esp. with more established actors featured in the cast. However, even in these secondary roles, I thought Wahaj's acting was appreciated and all these performances were very distinct from each other.
Mein is the only show he signed post Tere Bin (but before it blew up). Mein was a big misfire I do think. I don't mind if the character was grey or weak-willed but it is just a poorly written character and Wahaj's acting does nothing to elevate it either.
But like you said the real test will be SMD. Haseeb projects are never huge hits. I hope it is a quality drama with at least solid ratings (if not a blockbuster). Haseeb is one of our better directors so I'm looking forward to SMD.
In terms of ads/PS, my issue was not the quantity but the quality. I feel if Wahaj had done more high-end brands and more solo shoots, the perception would have been different (especially, Nishat, Maha, EJ, and Mushk were a miss in terms of brand reputation, shoot concept, production and styling). Sherry probably does as many shoots as Wahaj but they tend to be of higher quality. Just in the last month, Sherry had 2 PS and one new ad but no one has ever said it's too much. Meanwhile a number of female celebs have done much more photoshoots than Wahaj this year but are never called out for doing too much. However, this might be unfair comparison as he bar for male celebs is probably different.
