Pathaan..less said the better..like why even does that movie exist -_- atleast I am glad every person who was calling Pathaan amazing has excluded it from the top 10 movies of the year..or is even calling it basic and average..I would perhaps put it in the worst movies of the year. Fighter is also looking no better..Sid Anand needs to be banned from making movies..he is just so mid.
so true and well said. To add to it, whoever is doing the VFX or CGI or whatever it is to make him look young is doing a horrible job. It was very evident in that 20 second scene in Lal Singh Chadha and Dunki it was pathetic to watch him too with Taapsee. Looked like a cosmetic surgery done uncle of hers
We as audiences are also at fault for Pathaan earning 1000cr and all Sid Anand movies being successful. A hot song, some over the top action scenes and a Star Actor is all it takes apparently. Maybe banning him is he best solution haha

Also Vanga maybe didnt have the pull then as much as the Akhtars and Excel but I think that changes with Animal's success.
Shahid was snubbed at FF tho his performance was brilliant, but I don't mind RS for Gully BoyOriginally posted by: rickyproctor27
I will watch Sir Ek Banda asap. Absolutely love Bajpai.
What do you mean 'problematic' for RK's role?
If I remember Sanjay Dutt swept all awards for Vaastav? Ranveer won quite a few for Padmavat,(quite misogynistic and creepy as Alaudin) didn't he very recently? SRK won for Baazigar (blatant revenge story)
Sorry, I didn't understand why Ranbir may not win because his role is problematic? His career best performance in Rockstar was also a problematic character right? I think Shahid deserved for Kabir Singh over Ranveer for Gully Boy but that was the first and second best performance of that year for me so not too harsh. Also Vanga maybe didnt have the pull then as much as the Akhtars and Excel but I think that changes with Animal's success.
Filmfare thrashed movie animal and i believe Kabir Singh tooso no chance. they will play safe and award Vikrant m, which is fine cos at least Vikrant deserve recognition for his brilliant performance.
Vicky Kaushal might win National Award tho the real winner is RK , but tell me , do you think National board will award RK for his so called misogynist roledaag lagh jaayega award ko. again...lets play say and award rest...doesn't matter its deserving or not.
if not RK, Vikrant or Bajpaaye should collect all, that includes national awards, i preferred their performances over Vickys.

Yes but thats the difference a lot of people don't get. You are awarding an 'actor' not a 'character'. I think at the National Awards people like Vikrant M, Pankaj Tripathi will have better chances but if they think RK was the best then they should give him the award. Allu Arjun won last year for playing a criminal in Pushpa too right?

Never seen Vaastav but the others were all villains. Ranveer's character was clearly the villain and was defeated at the end. Was never idolized as a hero especially considering the historical and religious status of his character and story.
SRK won for Baazigar because once more, he's never treated like the hero and he pays for his crimes at the end. His actions for killing Shilpa are not glorified onscreen (audiences may take it a different way though). This was the role that every major actor refused because no one wanted to ruin their romantic image. They all knew this was clearly a villainous role who audiences would not support.
Animal is different because Ranbir does not pay for his crimes. He does horrible things throughout the movie as the protagonist and is hailed as a hero. It's not just that the audience is supporting him as an idol for the masses but the fact that the film itself glorifies him and the director and cast and crew all agree with this interpretation as well. The movie never makes him out to be a problematic person.

Are you saying that Ranbir's character is being idolised by masses and influencing them? Sorry, maybe because I'm not in India I don't have a feel of the pulse of the audience.
I watch movies as 3 hours of art and in a silo and liked the movie as it reminded me of the dark Tarantino movies like Kill Bill and Inglourious. And Ranbir's intensity left a mark. Just as an actor not as a character. He's a horrible character but the way he's played it as an actor, I enjoyed that. I don't take social messages from movies and actors and dont idolise characters because that doesn't make sense. I learned a long time back that you cant look at Bollywood movies for deriving social influences. And I thought Award juries and audiences think the same hence we see an Allu Arjun winning for playing a law breaking smuggler in Pushpa. Again, it's an award for the actor not the character as it should be.
I think what you're saying about Baazigar is what happened with Darr. I think Aamir and Ajay and others I dont remember refused Yash Chopra for Darr but haven't heard/read such things about Baazigar.
I don't understand how one can put Vanga's Animal on the same level as Tarantino's Kill Bill and Inglorious B***ards...
