Only thing consistent in this world is change. Deva and Tara had been the perfect example of it. Love brought change in them... Love changed their character arc.
There is no lie about this that Deva is the most loved character and its his pain and his story which draw our attention. Its Deva that gives us the core reason to be glued to our phone or tv. But episode -41 will be dedicated to Tara. We though love her but doesn’t talk about her . Before penning down my two cents on her. I think we must thank to the makers for two things, One creating a relatable, strong and empathetic female lead. And Two, Gautam Hedge kept his ptomise that Badshah will play one of the fulcrums of Dev and Tara"s relationship. Now lets move back to Tara.
Indian Television is a platform where usually women are highlighted... To be honest they are sometimes over dramatized and over glorified for doing round rotis and washing laptop with detergent. They are the purest like dew and unadulterated like a virgin The term "layered " doesn’t synced with them. After a long time we met someone who is positive and layered but surely not a door mat material.
She is Tara Sehgal
Tara Sehgal was a loner... She was a rich kid, sufficied with costly dresses and luxuries, but with no mother no love no affection... She was an introvert and underconfident kid. She was alone. Then came the love of his life Deva... She by his sole attention and affection, turned into a dazzling star from "Fus Tara ( Worthless).Thenn he left... It was her unintended mistake.. It was her fall that hindered him and push him to the hollow of darkness. This is how a layer was put on her character. He was wounded, he was shattered, He was burnt.. He returned to burn her and show how it pained to be burnt again. But he never knew She again was cocconed to her old self. The loner. The star (Tara) who has fault in her stars (Destiny) She was standing alone and broken exactly how he left her. He was livid and made Himself very powerful to show the world and her that he will make or break her at the whim of his choice. Tara too was fighting a strainous battle - A toxic uncle and aunt to handle, expenses of a medically unstable father and a spendthrift brother was imposed... She put a plastic smile on her face and kept herself alive only for a haywire wish that one day he will return and she will sleep in his arms peacefully.
He turned... Once he was her panaccea but now he is intended to be the poison. He was Dev Mallik resurrected from the ashes of Ghorewala Deva..
Tara Sehgal blommed and illuminated. This is how she reached from her gloomy self to the enliven one
. She for time and again was threatened, misguided and stopped by Deva himself and by the others to reach to him. She was living with the mercy of having Badshah which was the gift from the man who is determined to be her tormentor now.Here is why She is different . She never over exhaled her power..like Naagins. She neither remained the doormat.Gopi bahu nor the Krantikari Anupama. Every time He needed her, she was there - From changing his color choice to not to let him bend infront of his enemies, from rejecting his nonsenses to marry him knowing that she was once the cause of his misery tonow she will be the healer - from Tara Sehgal to Tara Mallik- the perfect partner. She might hid herself behind the moon, but had reappeared, when he needed her the most. Unlike other Itv leads, Tara neither do silly sacrifices nor she make super stunts. She is the Shakti (Energy) which only transpires...when her Shiv ( Deva)needed him, fulfilling the prophecy Shiv Shakti ke bina Shav hai ( Shiv is like a deadbody without Shakti)
Upon knowing his angst, his wounds his vendetta... She mellow down. She is here to be the incaranation of Parvat. to help her Nilkanth( One who had consumed Poison -Deva) to abate the suffering of having Halahal (Poison)She agreed to marry someone till She knew that Mallik was Deva. For her He had been her priority... And he will forever be.. To err is to human, she admitted, Her one mistake costs him abuse, trauma imprisonment and acerbity She vowed to diminish every ounce of it even it means costing her one life.
She married him even after knowing, his brother is no more in his clutches. Its not because of what he thinks about her, its about what she is - A fierce lover. She is the brook where boats took rest. She is still and composed but for his sake She can be the fiesty river who will break all the ties and meet him only to soothe his pain. Hence she had a transformation from Tara Sehgal an underconfident and loner, from an obidient and irritated employee by his Boss"s tantrum to Mrs Tara Deva Mallik a rare combination of Fire and Water in a single embodiment.
Sometimes it feels the makers are unfolding the character graph and I as a viewer am scared that the show might end being the victim of trp.But Tara will remain one of the favourite Female lead rarely happened in ITv.
. I agree with Priyaa on every point. This is the kind of FL we always want and expect from makers to show. She could be a person who needs Deva's help in times of need, yet, she is always portrayed as that fierce girl who would do anything for her family and for Deva with her strength and capacity. Owning upto her mistakes and swearing to heal Deva shows her resolution to free Deva from this deep-seated pain and her love for Deva. This is called true love/soulmate wala love. Female leads should be portrayed like this instead of showing doormat bahus.
