I'm trying to understand the main reasons why people rely on the hibernation and deactivation features.
1. Some people actually believe that it makes you appear Elite. 
They think being in active status in Social media will mean that you are always available and non exclusive.
(This is true for a very tiny number of people).
I think that is a shallow thought. I don't personally agree. If you do consider yourself as a well trained member in the social society then you do not need to hibernate. Such training is inbuilt and a proof of strong character and will power. You do not need to rely on hibernation, because you wouldn't need to think about it. If you are not bothered then you are not bothered! Simple. Your self control is within yourself, otherwise it's just an act and attention seeking for validation because you know you are trying to keep up a fake appearance because you really aren't Elite, in the slightest.
2. IF addiction. If you do not hibernate or deact, you cannot stop yourself.
3. Forum toxity, you want to get away from people or the toxic topics and fights.
Well, again don't enter those topics, do not comment and maintain self control and calm. Work in yourself to learn an important rule of socialising -
co-existing.
4. Attention Seeking, People will miss me, worry about me, be bothered.
Yes they will worry about you the first couple of times, but not repeatedly. If you feel you need to do this for attention, then you aren't that popular or have to learn to accept that you are not the centre of the world for everyone, People have their own lives and other friends too they need to share time with and sometimes they like to rant on shows and movies to get things off their chest and come have a banter and refresh and go back to doing what they are doing.
5. Causing anxiety, depression or a result of bullying.
Well people may use these methods to help themselves, to give themselves some time.
6. The forum is boring, People are boring.
Well then there's your chance to make the difference if you can. Create content, don't just rely on others to entertain you. Interact and engage with people.. you may realise that they aren't boring.
7. People hibernate because of notifs so that everyone is aware they are inactive and do not appear to be ignoring friends.
Enough said from my end. Personally I stayed signed in even in my sleep. I like to see the time I'm serving in IF and collect my visitation streak badges! 😁
However, One can hibernate, it's not a question on that. There are some cases which can be overcome on the 'need' to hibernate.
Pls throw in your reasons you think people hibernate or deact and add some more on the list too.
