Archies Review/Spoilers Discussion - Page 41

Have not watched it all yet however wanted to add my two cents as I've been reading this thread.

Firstly, why in the world wasn't the Vedang guy cast as Archie, like are you for real. He is good looking and would have deffo done a better job than Agastya. Forget acting abilty, like someone above said why would two popular girls fall for Agastya when vedang is there I mean it's not like Archie is a good guy lol he is just as much of a flirt like Reggie. Like I get the nice guy wins etc but lol Archie isn't that either lol. Okay and now even if we forget looks Agastya is not that great lol, the scene when his friend is tallking to him during the skating scene the acting there is horrendous. Like it one thing to play natural but the boy was not giving anything. Like his reaction was not even acting lol. It did not match the other guy's acting at all. Hard to explain but I wonder if anyone else thought that as well. But I will say his Hindi was good.

Now Khushi, I don't want to be too mean as she was still miles better than Agastya in the sense she was at least acting lol. But people said she may have been better as Veronica due to her looks, whilst I do somewhat agree a little but her lip area is so freaking distracting man. It doesn't suit the era, the age or the character lol. Like I do agree Suhana isn't the best looker but at least she looks normal and doesn't have a plastic face. I can't take Khushi seriously it's way too much going on in her face. And you can tell she struggles with hindi. She needs to fix her lips it would make a world of difference She has pretty and expressive eyes and a nice smile if you were to forget her stupid lips.

Lastly Suhana, whilst i do agree that perhaps the fact she got the character that boys are obsessed with might not be the right choice for her. I do feel people are being a little too mean because she is dark. Khushi isn't a stunner either and deffo not with her lips but she has a lighter skin tone. People are a lot more kinder on some nepo kids when they aren't lookers but have light skin, like Ananya and Alia. Like neither of them are as pretty as Kiara or Tara but "light skin" saves them. Though I do agree she should have taken the Betty role would have been better. But then again how in world did Agastya get the archie role when there is a Vedang. But then perhaps just like real life the popular kids aren't necessarily the prettiest kids it's the attitude and confidence. Which Suhana definitely has compared to khushi, both in reel and real life. So yeah it's a little unfair that because suhana isn't conventionally pretty, people have a hard time taking her as the cool and popular kid. Popularity isn't always about looks, it's about the way you are, and clearly she is a lot more seductive as a character and what teenage boy doesn't like a girl dressed in a "sexy" way. Main Hoon na comes to mind with rakhi and amrita rao's characters. Her hindi was good, she was good at dancing and your eyes do go to her. Though she needs to improve her acting but I feel she was acting like it was theatre play which is more expressive. But she should have been told to tone it down by Zoya. But a little unfair to say Alia was better in her debut, she was horrendous as well lol and the sound of her voice is worse but Kjo presented her better.

I think the biggest fault is with Zoya. I get what she wanted to make, but the writing and directing wasn't there. It needed to be tight and crisp instead it is long and dreary. They also shouldn't have shot it so dull. They wanted to create a high school musical/grease but it's the writing and directing that failed these kids.

I will say though Agastya and Suhana have better hindi diction than Ananya and alia, at least they don't irritate the life out of you when they talk. Even if they are a bit flat the sound isn't annoying and even khushi isn't that bad.

One thing I will say is that Karan Johar knows how to present people especially new actors, that is the biggest fail here, he can make a not so great looking person look appealing. That's his skill, and no one has been able to top that. Presentation is key, had this film been by KJo the nepo kids would have looked the part at least.

Vedang is the one to look out for, I hope he gets good offers and goes far.

Original Archie is not some handsome dude..he is a red haired, freckled, clumsy guy..and Reggie is smarter, better looking and impeccably dressed. Yet Beronica r crazy abt Archie. Reggie is too full of himself..a narcissist, a quality that girls hate. While Archie is all puppy eyed around them

Apparently Vedang went through a rigorous audition for Archie. And then he never heard from them I believe . Then all of a sudden he got a call saying he got the part but of Reggie.

people really think that everyone is mean to Suhana, because she is "dark"?? what even..?? This has nothing to do with the complexion, there are plenty of dark/ golden skinned colours who look/ looked absolutely lovely and ravishing..like Geeta Basra, Smita Patil, Konkana, PC, DP, Mrunal Thakur etc..and anyone who has read SH's posts knows that person never cut Alia any slack, just because she was "fair"..

No just no! sorry but Suhana is "NOT" pretty..and not because of her complexion, but because of her features..it is too hard to ignore SRK on her face..SRK fans giving gyaan about not judging someone on the basis of looks..while some of them were being so damn mean to Sai Pallavi and many others on this forum, going around judging their freckles and their body and every inch of it..like please stop and all of that could be ignored if you delivered a good performance..

and yet here she is the one with a beauty brand endorsement, a lead role in a teen movie on Netflix, on Vogue cover shoots..in press..without any talent or beauty or star aura..-_-

also nope nobody is giving Khushi or Agastya the benefit of the doubt..Khushi's facial muscles dont move and she looked as ugly, if not more on screen..I just cant believe that Sri's daughters can be so talentless..their mother was a freaking goddess on screen..and look at these two plastic surgery ki moorats just wasting it all away in getting more and more work done on themselves..and they still LOOK like this might I also add that Jahnvi was actually better than Khushi, if you compare their debut performances..and at the very least she can actually dance well..if not anything else

Agastya could be there on screen like mumbling something and he would just merge in the background..itna kharab screen presence and performance kaise ho sakta hai bhai
