Why did Sridevi not win Filmfare Awards for English Vinglish and Mom? - Page 3

Vidya won for Tumhari Sulu??? Kahani was good..that was a close competition.

In Sridevi's case awards r just a trophy on the shelf. The legacy that she has left behind is unmatchable.

Yes, Vidya won for that. I liked her in it but I actually thought she was better in Shakuntala Devi, a few years later, for which she was nominated but did not win.

The interesting story about Kahani is that it seems Priyanka was the favorite to win that year for Barfi (or so she thinks anyway). She came to Filmfare that year expecting to win for Barfi but when she arrived, she found out that Vidya was going to win. Priyanka was so upset that she thought about just leaving and not attending the awards but someone convinced her to be a good sport and stick around even if she is going to lose.

I always thought that story was especially interesting because it seems to suggest that the winners are already known before the actual awards.

Sridevi in English Vinglish was my personal favorite. Never liked Vidya.

Agreed. The fact that Alia has more Best Actress Filmfares than Sridevi is when you know something is seriously wrong.

The reason I joined this forum was because I was so angry that Sridevi lost! At that time everyone was brainwashed and doing Vidya worshipping.

I was not a huge Vidya fan back in the late 2000s/early 2010s when she was constantly winning Filmfare after Filmfare. I didn't mind her and I liked some of her films but she was not a particular favorite and I was getting tired of her being awarded year after year. It came to the point where I lost interest because it seemed like a given that Vidya would win no matter what she did.

I love Tumhari Sullu. But I think between Sullu vs Mom, Mom was a slightly better performance

Between English Vinglish and Kahaani, deffo Kahaani for me. A much more challenging role
