Honestly, I think this movie is only successful because of a trailer that promised something the movie - eventually - doesn't deliver and a largely manipulative promotion machinery.

Can one really 'take something home'? Wasn't the movie a kind of betrayal? A - far too long - show like from a magician who makes appear mutilated rabbits - one after another - out of his hat just to try to shock the audience?

A quite non-existing story, one-dimensional characters, violent action that doesn't really makes sense, an underused Bobby Deol, a linear-used Ranbir, dumb dialogues and reactions and 2 actresses inserted for sex and procreation.

Wow...what a fall after a well-made debut movie...

Lot of ppl were interested in the film after the trailer because it seemed like the story of a crooked relationship of a father and son. A lot of Indian men share and understand this emotion. From whatever I have read about the film, it clearly veered away from its basic plot.

KJO isn't interested in promoting a beautiful face like hers but shoving down Ananya, Sara, Janhvi down the audience's throat.

THIS!!!

Indian movies....most of them are full of patriarchal and misogynist shit....women are objectified and are stalked.....so people giving their holier than thou attitude here have appreciated and enjoyed these movies themselves......these delusional and toxic feminists should stop watching Indian cinema...PERIOD......smiley24

I’m just sick of people expecting some sorta apology for liking a movie that goes against their belief system ….or people who assume the society is immature and they are the messaiahs who will teach everyone better sense

🤦‍♀️

And not just Hindi movies ….there is lots of non Indian content that the Indian public watch (k dramas, hollywood, American and British tv) all of which have varying levels of violence, patriarchy and mysoginy …and no, all of them don’t have “strong female leads” …they didn’t go having sex with their sisters after watching game of thrones …or become vigalantes after watching Jawan or assumed it was a lawless John wick type of land and went on a killing spree …

It’s perfectly fine to be repulsed by mysoginy in films …and to call it out in life …but asking why a mysoginist was shown and shown without consequences (death or jail I’m told - because all mysoginists we know are either dead or in jail) , and why the mysgonist was shown to be in relationships (coz that never happens), why the mysogninst is shown to be in love (again, not possible) , why the mysognists kid loves him (coz he’s a kid who dosent know any better) , why the female has nothing to do ( coz that isn’t what the story is about ), why the mysognist has an elevating background score and is played by a good looking man (yes in his head he is a hero, and he’s doing all the right things and he’s top shit …now you look at him and decide what u want)

Mysoginy is shown in films, and sometimes will be shown without consequences because such is life …that’s not an endorsement fyi …
The end.

That's the impression I also got which gives the movie a totally other direction...my impression as mainly a reader than a viewer became that of a Vanga-show-off...a kind of Ego-trip...(mis-)using his main actors/actresses, too.

I hope, there won't be a sequal to this one with a plot that is based on such a stale trope than a face-operation...

I like what you wrote, Pathaka.

My choice to not watch Animal is purely because - from very early on - I got the feeling that it is a showing-off movie...and it seems that my feeling was right.

I also felt that Ranbir's talent got wasted in a role with little scope to show diversity (I wrote about these impressions even before the release).

Vanga's debut film (Arjun Reddy - I didn't watch the Hindi version) showed a negative character in a well-made movie.

I suppose, Vanga missed the opportunity to show a bunch of negative characters in another well-made movie because of his own anger...
