'He wants to have kids': Akanksha Chamola reveals what led to her split with Gaurav Khanna

Actor Akanksha Chamola has opened up about the reason behind her separation from husband Gaurav Khanna. While speaking on Netflix's Lock Upp, the actress revealed that their differing views on having children became one of the key reasons for their decision to part ways. She earlier confirmed that they are heading for a divorce but continue to remain on good terms.

During a conversation with fellow contestants Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala, Akanksha spoke about her long held decision to remain child free. She said, "Jab ham shadi mein the mera maternal instinct kabhi nahi tha but I was open to discovering it. It was never shut down." She added, "But gradually I realised I'm not meant for it."

Akanksha shared that Gaurav had initially accepted her choice. However, with time, she felt his views changed. She explained that she could not give him the family he now wanted. She said, "He was okay with it. But, I guess in time...now he wants to have kids. When I see that, I can't give him that."

When Shreya asked, "Never?" Akanksha replied, "Nahi hai mere mein instinct. Wo maine bhot pehle bol diya tha." She also revealed that she had spoken honestly with Gaurav about the situation. Recalling that conversation, she said, "We had a discussion where I told him 'If you want to leave me, you can leave me. Fair enough on your part'."

Akanksha further shared, "Then Bigg Boss happened and I realised ki isko bhot jyada hai (want to have kid) aur main nahi kar pa rahi hoon. Fir me I don't want to put him in that situation." She added that she wishes to remain child free because she values her sense of freedom and independence.

Akanksha and Gaurav married in 2016 after dating for some time. During Bigg Boss 19, Gaurav had also hinted at his desire to become a father while speaking to fellow contestant Mridul Tiwari. Gaurav has not reacted publicly to Akanksha's latest statements yet.
