This seemed like different movies in the two halves.

The first half is actually great if you are a masala movie lover with some really good interesting and well acted scenes with the last 20 minutes to sign it off being a terrific action sequence.

The other half is where Vanga's lunacy starts. I firmly believe he wrote the major portion here just to p!ss the people off who have been critical of his past movies because in no way most of the scenes were needed when you look at the bigger picture.

Ranbir was excellent and i felt this amazing act deserved a better movie. Rashmika was alright certainly better than what the trailer showcased her. Anil just had an grumpy grandpa character to play which he did alright. Lord Bobby had only 3 scenes in the movie which is disgusting because his character was actually interesting unlike the two girls here. Speaking of which, Tripti was only in it to have steamy scenes with Ranbir and the film would've been better off without her character as it would've prevented Vanga from making his main lead justifying cheating as well LOL. Don't think she will gain anything from this movie.

Think it is certain to cross the 500crs number because the target audience in my cinemas was enjoying it a lot like Kabir Singh.

Isnt bobby main villan why he has only 3 scenes? Or did all his scenes get ediited by vanga to show ranbir more?

Vanga like sanjay leela bansali has major issues with woman in his life i think

like SLB woman never goes to hero in last always hero dies or she marries another man etc he loves to romanticize seperating two lovers in every movie

Vanga too seems to have a problem with women in his life which he shows through his movies - hs views on how to treat women are dangerous for society of future with below 30-35 young males trying to copy or not oppose abuse of woman happening in front of them by watching such movies. I do not say all will copy but even if 10% get inspired what will be plight of women in already highly patriarchal and women abusive society like india

he makes his entry in the middle of second half and is there for hardly 10 minutes. I couldn't understand it too why they didn't gave him more screen time in a movie that was 3.30 hrs long

they showed video of him crying outside t series office i think

i thought its for liking his role in animal

but now i think its for editng too much of his role in movie

why would anyone do 10 minute roles in movies when he can do 40 mins or 60 mins role as villan or side hero in housefull 4 or race3 etc they could have expanded his and dimtry role by 30-40 mins each instead bec both are good actors (i heard dimtry has 10 min role too)

I saw the film last night in a packed theater, which is pretty unusual for where I live.

Ranbir is phenomenal and he nailed every look perfectly. There is no doubt that he is the best actor in India right now. And People were saying that he cant do action/mass films The supporting casts act well too ( even Rashmika).

Music/background score/action was great too.

And yeah Ranbir and that Zoya girl looked great together much better then Ranbir and Rashmika.

The father-son story lacked a little bit of depth and emotional impact. I think Sandeep was too obsessed with his critics that he forgot how to chart a plot. How did Vijay become the overprotective brother to his elder sister or obsessed with his father? The psychological angle would have made the movie great.

There were some scenes that were completely unnecessary, particularly the Bobby with his new bride/wifes , the unnecessary sex talk and the lick my shoes. All of these scenes could be left out and there would be no difference, but no Vanga´s ego was hurt and therefore he had to show his critics.

I don't think he had a longer role to begin with. In one of his interviews, he said that he shot for 15 to 20 days.

Watched it. As many people have already said here: ridiculous, confusing "film", if we can call it that. We can't , because Animal isn't interested in being one with its poorly put-together screenplay, absence of any emotional beats and character development, and ridiculous, horrendously done song placements.

The film was marketed from its announcement as a father-son violent love story. I expected deep emotional and psychological issues in the father-son dynamic. There is none. Balbir Singh is just some regular absent father. Why did his son go so cuckoo over him god knows. Looked more like a flimsy excuse from the filmmaker's side to have this joke of a man whom he can use to unleash his repressed fantasies onscreen.

My problem is Ranvijay didn't work for me on that front as well. For a film named Animal, what a boring, one-note character this Ranvijay was. He was neither wild enough to justify the title, nor was he interesting enough from a psychological point of view to hold my interest. After a point, he just came across as this buffoon who cracks unfunny private parts jokes and is a shouting madman with no real intrigue. Ranbir's performance as Ranvijay sucked, minus the bit we saw at the start of the trailer. I said what I said. That being said, I do think the sequel can be promising if someone brings Vanga to his senses and doesn't let him get carried away like he already has with Animal's screenplay (not gonna happen I know). I say this because I liked Mr. Butcher a lot in that one scene he came in. I also really liked the guy playing Bobby's translator. The rest of the performances were tolerable to atrocious.

I don't really care about violence/abuse/bold scenes on screen if done right. Here it is done just for shock, nothing else. The women are treated as pieces of meat and they are fine being treated that way. Oh how I wish in the sequel (if there is any), Zoya tricks the twins into committing selfcest and killing each other off while she laughs her way to the bank. Very unlikely in Vanga-verse but a girl can dream I guess 🤷‍♀️.

There are many more like you who are quiet. I am not watching this movie ever and mostly reading the reviews. It is just my personal preference not to watch it.

No a lot of people didn’t like it. Obviously a lot did going by the numbers it’s doing. But I know some are also watching it for curiosity.

There’s also a pushback against people who are critical of this movie. This cricketer deleted his tweet criticizing the movie. I’m assuming he deleted it due to PR concerns which is kind of scary tbh.

Yea there’s this side too. Alia is getting dragged too for praising Vanga.

Extremely polarizing movie that for the most part seems to be divided along the gender lines. Though the two examples you and I posted shows the opposite.
